Harvard Caribbean Club An organization on the Harvard campus with the purpose of fostering a home community for Caribbean pe

The Harvard Caribbean Club was founded in 1978 by a group of Caribbean students dedicated to creating a space at Harvard for students of Caribbean descent and those interested in the Caribbean to embrace Caribbean heritage, keeping the warmth of Caribbean culture alive and well in the cold city of Cambridge. As Caribbean immigrants left their homes in search of the prospect of a brighter future in

the United States, a growing number of first-generation Caribbean students began to attend Harvard, sharing the richness and beauty of their cultural background with the Harvard community. Today, the Caribbean community at Harvard is comprised of a diverse group of students and faculty, many of whom grew up in Caribbean households in the United States and throughout the world, as well as a handful who were born and raised in the Caribbean. Together, we aim to educate the Harvard community about Caribbean culture, its people, its struggles, and its triumphs. Through our programming, including discussions with Caribbean public figures, mixers, and our annual Jubilee celebration, the Harvard Caribbean Club enriches the Caribbean community at Harvard and throughout Greater Boston.

Hello everyone! We're excited to announce our Sixth Annual Jubilee: Many Nations, One Family - Celebrating our People, Progress, and Prosperity! The Caribbean is colorful and diverse - our values and expressions through language, food, and art reflect a multiplicity of identities. As we chart a new path preserving sovereignty and self-determination, Caribbeans remain one family united in spirit, identity, and destiny. Doors open at 5:30PM and the Jubilee will come to a close at 9:00PM.

This year's event will feature a sit-down dinner with food from across the Caribbean, a series of Caribbean performances, and a charity raffle donation to the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix! Our event will conclude with an award ceremony honoring Agent Sasco aka Assassin with our Caribbean Entertainer of the Year Award!
Don't forget to make a charity raffle donation to the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix! Jubilee is open to the public, so friends and family are welcome to attend.

Over the past few months, our community has grieved the deaths of several black lives taken too soon by racially motivated police brutality. Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Yassin Mohamed, and most recently George Floyd are among those who have lost their lives. Their names are not to be forgotten. The Harvard Caribbean Club stands in solidarity with the Black community as we both mourn and honor the Black lives that were taken. We demand justice for our people. We stand united and strong. We will continue to fight these injustices. Stand with us and let your voice be heard, for the voices of many are louder than the voice of one. Only together can we create real change.

In order to help efforts to enact change, the Harvard Caribbean Club has made donations to several organizations that seek to bring justice for the lives lost.

We encourage you all to do the same. Below is a list of several ways one can support the movement if you are able. It's time to take action to create real change. Please take a few minutes out of your day to support these organizations.

There’s a Jamaican student, Seychelle Doyley, that needs our assistance in covering the rest of her expenses to start her journey at Harvard. As an incoming member of our family, we’d love for you to share and contribute in any way possible!

Walt Disney once said that All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. My name is Seychelle Doyley and I currently serve as the Head Girl of The Wolmers Trust High School for Girls in Kingston, Jamaica. I am ...

Dear Harvard Caribbean Club Members and the greater Harvard Caribbean Club Community,

The realities of the COVID-19 global pandemic are such that none of us could have anticipated. We are in unprecedented times, things are changing constantly and quickly. Though times are undeniably challenging, I urge you to remember our community. Though we should all be practicing social distancing and physical proximity may not be possible, please remember the naming grace of our most recent Jubilee; Many Nations, One People. Whether you are in Trinidad or Toronto, Guyana or Great Britain we share in your anxieties, we empathize with your worries and we are sending you love and light at this time. Though many of us have left campus and returned to our respective homes and families, our Caribbean Club family remains near to all of our hearts.

We, the Harvard Caribbean Club, implore you to remain informed about the ongoing global health crises, we urge you to follow the guidelines and measures implemented by your local governments and officials. Please stay indoors, stay safe. We can’t wait to see you soon.

With Love,
The Executive Board of the Harvard Caribbean Club
