- Electricity use was lower than 2025, thanks to milder average temps
- July 2 brought this year's highest demand (24,450 MW) during a holiday heat wave

After years of work, Revolution Wind has installed its final blade and is expected to begin delivering 704MW of clean electricity to the New England grid by the end of the year.

And the timing couldn't be more important. Offshore wind can save ratepayers by helping New England avoid turning to expensive oil-fired power plants during winter cold snaps.

A Power Advisory Analysis found that if Revolution Wind had been operating during the January 2026 cold snap, it could have displaced about 8.5% of oil-fired generation during the 8-day period analyzed, saving Rhode Island ratepayers an estimated $14.4 million in just that 8-day cold snap alone.

And with oil prices as high as they are right now, Revolution wind means less reliance on the expensive and volatile fuel, and more savings for ratepayers.

An offshore wind farm that the Trump administration tried twice to shut down has installed all of 65 of its turbines.
