Charles came to us over fifteen years ago, and his journey of growth and discovery has been incredible. When he first contacted us, he was a disillusioned youth, who scratched out a meager living, carrying people's garbage on his back to the landfill outside the town. It was hard work with extremely low pay.
We interviewed Charles as to his aspirations and dreams and discovered that he has a talent for drawing and design. We further instructed him to leave his work and to spend two weeks assembling a portfolio of his best graphic and design work, and that led to a job as a freshman designer with a graphics firm! (The first photo dates back to those days.)
Charles worked in this field for nearly a decade, then boldly left Ghana and moved to the UK, where he had to start from the beginning again. He did so as a night-shift security guard, and discovered that he likes security work. He has since regularly attended courses furthering his knowledge of safety and security, and is now weighing his options. Should he become a police officer, detective, security manager, or go all the way and start working towards a law degree? The choices are endless!
In the meantime, he is sponsoring the three growing children he rescued from a house fire many years ago in Ghana. They lost their parents in the fire, and Charles's big sister Grace stepped in to become their new mother, which she remains to this day. Generosity and heroism runs in this family!
