Congratulations Coach Viesselman! A well-deserved honor. Thank you for everything you do for our track team - both on and off the field.

Kent Viesselman knew he would be invited to the Minnesota Track and Field Coaches Association’s January banquet.

Congratulations Anika! You’ve been up to great things in your collegiate career. We’re rooting for you! Once a bluejacket, always a bluejacket!

The byline says it all, “It’s hard to top winning a state title”, but these athletes may have done just that. Congrats again bluejackets!

And a HUGE thank you to the community for your well wishes, congratulatory remarks, and financial support. The athletes are still fundraising to cover the costs of this trip. If you’re interested in helping make magic happen, please consider donating to our fundraiser (online through Zeffy or by check).

A great write up of our athletes’ accomplishments at Nike Outdoor Nationals

06/23/2026

A big shout out to Ashley Husbyn who took the stage at Nike Outdoor Nationals and represented CIHS in the 400m with heart and grit. She finished right in line with her season in an elite and tightly packed field.

We’re incredibly proud of her effort, her attitude, and her future. This experience will fuel big things ahead.

YET ANOTHER visit to the podium for our CIHS athletes. This time it comes from our 4x100m relay team of Simeon Porta, Knox Andrus, Anders Lillemo, and Jackson Ziebarth. This team clinched an All American title and 2nd place with a time of 42.09 seconds, with only 0.02 seconds separating them from the first place team. Congratulations boys!

You might be wondering if any members of the CIHS girls track & field team competed in Nike Outdoor Nationals, with all the coverage of events so far.

We have one brave soul who is yet to compete and she could use our encouragement and energy. Ashley Husbyn will be running in the freshman 400m on Monday at 7:38 pm MN time. Competing at Nationals is a big deal, and an even bigger one when you are just starting your high school career.

We’ll be cheering for you, Ashley!
