Check out this awesome event from Sarah Labrie (MA ACDA board member) and Andrew Scoglio!
Lexington High School is thrilled to invite singers and music lovers of all ages to a special community choral event this spring: a BIG SING led by our guest artist-in-residence, Maestro James Burton.
As part of his three-day residency with our choral program, Maestro Burton will lead a one-night-only participatory BIG SING experience on Tuesday, March 17th at 7:00pm in the Lexington High School Auditorium.
This BIG SING is not a formal performance. The rehearsal is the main event. Under Maestro Burton’s direction, singers will come together to explore and bring to life great masterworks of the choral repertoire, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Serenade to Music, currently being prepared by the 100 students across LHS’s three honors choirs, and Haydn’s Te Deum.
Community members are invited to participate in one of two ways:
Sing and participate in the rehearsal alongside our students, or
Attend as an observer, experiencing the rehearsal process from the audience. Observers are welcome to stay for the entire event.
Sheet music will be provided for all registered singers. No advance preparation is required, though familiarity with the music is certainly welcome!
Singing tickets are open to everyone who loves to sing—adult amateurs, professional singers, conductors, music educators, alumni, and more. Whether you raise your voice or simply listen and learn, we hope you’ll join us for this joyful, collaborative evening of music-making.
