Future AI Society The Future AI Society is a community dedicated to adding Common Sense to Artificial Intelligence Simon to create Artificial General Intelligence.

Future AI is an award-winning, early-stage technology company founded by Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Charles J. The AI world is keen on Machine Learning because it looks like it works, but it has no genuine intelligence so there are many things it can’t do, doesn’t do well, and will never do. Future AI’s radical software creates connections on its own between different types of real-world sensory

input like sight, sound, and touch, in the same way that a human brain interprets everything it knows in the context of everything else it knows. Our implementation is an artificial entity we call "Sallie." Sallie emulates the processes of human thought, beginning with perception. Sallie uses mobile sensory pods so the system can learn from a real-world environment and gain a fundamental understanding of physical objects in reality, cause and effect, and the passage of time. These sensory pods help Sallie learn about the real world. The knowledge Sallie acquires can then be used for other applications, including personal assistants like Alexa and Siri, automated customer service systems, and robots like Boston Dynamics’, Spot. "Until advances to the point where it can actually think for itself, understand, and exhibit something that more closely resembles human-like intelligence and common sense, it will remain a tool that can be used for good or bad, depending on the intentions of its human users or the unintended consequences of its design." Future AI Society founder, Charles Simon, discusses the advancement of AI in this RTInsights.com article.

Until AI advances to a point where it thinks for itself, it will remain a tool that can be used for good or bad, depending on its users.

"Achieving AGI does not imply that systems 'think' or 'understand' [or] possess qualities such as consciousness or sentience...An AGI system must also have the ability to learn new tasks, and know when to seek clarification or assistance from humans for a task."

A team of researchers at DeepMind focusing on the next frontier of artificial intelligence—Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)—realized they needed to resolve one key issue first. What exactly, they asked, is AGI?

"That's a bit of a problem for those hoping to achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI), a term techies use to describe hypothetical AI that can do anything humans do. As it stands, AI is pretty good at specific tasks but less great at transferring skills across domains like humans do." Hasan Chowdhury writes in this Insider article. We've been saying this for some time. ://www.businessinsider.com/google-researchers-have-turned-agi-race-upside-down-with-paper-2023-11

A new paper from Google researchers found that the transformer technology behind tools like ChatGPT is not very good at generalizing.

"Speaking at the SoftBank Group Corp. World corporate conference, Son said he believes will be ten times more intelligent than the sum total of all human intelligence...and said he thinks he is the only person who believes AGI will come within a decade." Is he really the ONLY person?

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son said he believes artificial general intelligence (AGI), artificial intelligence that surpasses human intelligence in almost all areas, will be realised within 10 years.

"How do human beings acquire common sense? In essence, we are multifaceted learners. We try things out and observe the results, read books, and listen to instructions, absorb silently (and sometimes not-so-silently), and reason on our own. We fall on our faces and watch others make mistakes. AI systems, by contrast, are not as well-rounded. They are rule-based and tend to follow one route at the exclusion of all others." - Merav Ozair, PhD on and common sense. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/how-common-is-common-sense-in-ai-and-why-should-we-care

AI is capable of very impressive and incredible things, yet when it comes to common sense, which humans take for granted, it seems to fail miserably.

"For to actually advance to the point where it can think, understand, and exhibit something more closely resembling human-like intelligence, AI must replace its reliance on progressively larger data sets to a more biologically plausible system modelled on human thinking. With fundamental algorithms that enable it to explore, experiment, and learn about real objects, such a system would be capable of interpreting everything it knows in the context of everything else it knows." Over the past few months, everyone from technology leaders to elected officials to members of the media to the average consumer seems to be asking whether artificial intelligence is advancing too quickly. Will AI take jobs and resources from humans?

"Stay with me, cosmic geeks...Imagine a rewritten scenario of “2051: A Space Odyssey.” The bay pod doors open, everyone gets home safely and our trust in is reinforced, not shattered." Check out this entertaining and interesting read from Doug Erickson that imagines a reinvented HAL 9000, the system from the 1968 film “2001: A Space Odyssey," as a super-intelligent .

Doug Erickson, Santa Cruz tech guru and founder of Santa Cruz Works, helps us understand artificial intelligence by taking us back to 1968’s cult classic “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Could that fictional scenario of machines taking over for people happen with today’s AI? He leads us through some...

"The power of brings with it a profound dichotomy — an astounding potential to revolutionize our world, juxtaposed with an impending need for carefully charted ethical considerations. We must take our collective leap forward into the constellations of AGI with splendid caution, ensuring that our scientific drive is accompanied by our moral compass." https://medium.com/right-information/decoding-agi-why-it-truly-matters-6e46b159e467
