Congratulations Chief!
Today please help us congratulate Dave Peoples, our next inductee to the Mid-East CTC Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame! 🎉👏
Dave graduated from the Auto Technology program and Cambridge High School in 1991.
After graduation, he began his career as a mechanic assistant with Cord Paving before moving to Markley’s Service Station. While there, he pursued his true calling, law enforcement, and completed the police academy at what is now Zane State College.
In August 1994, Dave joined the Cambridge Police Department, beginning a career defined by dedication and steady leadership. Over the years, he has served as a Detective, SWAT Team Operator and Commander, Drug Officer, Fi****ms Instructor, and Field Training Officer. His commitment and excellence were recognized with promotions to Sergeant in 2013, Lieutenant in 2016, Captain in 2020, and ultimately Chief of Police in 2024 — the position he proudly holds today.
Dave has earned numerous awards for his service and continues to make a lasting impact on the Cambridge community. Though he still misses working on cars, he says the skills and knowledge he gained at Mid-East have served him well, saving him countless dollars and providing a valuable backup trade.
He credits his instructors, Mr. Lewis and Mr. Rogers, for teaching him the importance of persistence and problem-solving. “It didn’t matter if the issue was a car problem or a learning problem,” he recalls. “They taught us how to figure it out with guidance and on our own.”
Dave’s advice for students comes from that same spirit.
“When I went to Mid-East, I thought I had my future planned as a mechanic. Even though my plans changed, that did not mean Mid-East was a waste of time," he said. "The knowledge you gain here will carry you through your whole life. That’s why I now serve on the Mid-East Board of Education — to give back to a great school that helped me further my career and my life.”
