East End House offers a pipeline of services for youth age 0 to 24, with the long-term goal of having youth complete at least two years of post-secondary education or find gainful employment by age 24. We nurture individuals, families and the community to create an environment where all people can thrive. East End House is a results-based, accountability driven organization that constantly strives to assess and meet community needs.

What a day!

A huge thank you to the Kendall Square Association and everyone who participated in the 2026 Kendall Square Challenge. This year's event brought together 61 teams and nearly 600 employees from organizations across Kendall Square for an afternoon of trivia, relay races, kayaking, frisbee, creativity, and plenty of team spirit—all in support of six incredible local nonprofits.

We were proud that East End House was selected as one of those nonprofit beneficiaries. Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of participating teams, 300 Summer Survival Kits were filled during the competition that included essentials like sunscreen, water bottles, first aid supplies, insect repellent, and more to help East End House children, families, and seniors enjoy a healthy and safe summer.

We were also honored to receive a $10,000 donation through the Challenge—support that will make a meaningful difference as we continue serving our community in our 150th year.

Thank you to the Kendall Square Association, every participating organization, our volunteers, and all who made this joyful day of connection and impact possible. You remind us what makes Cambridge so special. 💙

🎉 BIG NEWS FOR EAST END HOUSE! 🎉

We are thrilled to share that East End House has been awarded a transformative $750,000 grant over 10 years from the Cummings Foundation!

This investment comes through the Foundation’s highly competitive $35 million grant program. Out of a record 959 applicants from across Greater Boston, only 150 organizations were selected for funding—and East End House was one of just 25 organizations awarded a decade-long commitment.
As we approach our 150th anniversary, this extraordinary grant represents a powerful vote of confidence in our mission and the community we serve.

Each year, East End House supports more than 5,500 children, youth, families, and older adults, including immigrants, multilingual families, working parents, and individuals facing barriers to opportunity. Approximately 93% of participants are low- to moderate-income, and nearly 90% are people of color, reflecting our commitment to serving those facing the greatest barriers to opportunity. This funding will help ensure that we can continue providing critical programs and services that strengthen our community for years to come.

There’s nothing like a summer evening spent with good food, music, and neighbors! Join us for East End House’s Annual Summer Block Party on Wednesday, July 29 from 5:30–7:30 PM for a free, family-friendly celebration open to the community.

Come by, bring your family and friends, and enjoy games, activities, and a chance to connect with the people who make our neighborhood so special. We hope to see you there!

Thank You Sam!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Graphic Design Intern Samantha Gerson from Cleveland Design for her time with us!

Sam was with us for a year and was a fantastic part of the team from the day she joined. While juggling a full college workload and her internship with us, Sam consistently produced top-notch designs that engaged our viewers and told the story of East End House. Sam was a great team-player, always had a great attitude, and consistently showcased her graphic design skill through the quality of her work.

STRIKE! This month, the East End House Senior Activities & Outreach Program enjoyed a fun-filled visit to Sacco’s Bowl Haven, a favorite outing among our seniors. Participants shared delicious pizza, plenty of laughs, and some friendly competition while knocking down pins.

A heartfelt thank-you to Sacco’s Bowl Haven for hosting the event and generously providing us with free shoe rentals and discounted lanes. We’re so grateful for your support and look forward to visiting again soon!

Volunteer Month is coming to a close, and what an incredible month it’s been!

We’ve had the chance to share inspiring stories from our volunteers, highlight the many ways you can get involved, and celebrate the partnerships that make our work possible. The toddlers and preschoolers at East End House have been having so much fun with Roman Music Therapy every week. They come in for an hour, and the kids love hearing the different instruments, singing along to the songs, and getting to play the instruments themselves.

Music at this age is so important for development — it supports language, listening skills, emotional expression, and learning to be part of a group. And for little ones especially, it's one of the most natural ways to learn.

We recently partnered with the Harvard Undergraduate Vision for All Initiative, providing vision screening for the children enrolled in our Early Education and School Age programs.

These quick, safe, and kid-friendly vision screenings help identify potential concerns early — supporting every child’s success in the classroom and beyond. Early detection makes a big difference, and we’re grateful to be part of that impact!

East End House is bringing back our FREE drop-in playgroups! 🎉

Join us for our first session on Thursday, May 14 from 10:30 AM–12:00 PM.

These welcoming playgroups are designed for caregivers and their little ones (ages 0–5) to play, connect, and have fun together. Each session features a mix of arts & crafts, puzzles, songs, and storytime—led by a member of our East End House team.

Come build community, spark creativity, and enjoy a joyful morning with your child.
