East End House offers a pipeline of services for youth age 0 to 24, with the long-term goal of having youth complete at least two years of post-secondary education or find gainful employment by age 24. We nurture individuals, families and the community to create an environment where all people can thrive. East End House is a results-based, accountability driven organization that constantly strives to assess and meet community needs.

We are excited to announce that East End House's free drop-in playgroups are starting back up on October 8th. The playgroups run weekly on Thursdays from 10:30AM – 12:00PM.

Caregivers are encouraged to bring their 0-5 year olds for an exciting morning of arts, crafts, puzzles, songs and stories.

No need to sign up, just show up and have fun.

A Special Shoutout to Jess Camenzuli and the Cambridge Agenda for Children!

A special shoutout to Jess Camenzuli, East End House’s Senior Director of Organizational Advancement and Impact, for leading Bridging the Gap: How Out-of-School-Time Providers Can Support Families in IEP Meetings in partnership with the Agenda for Children OST.

Drawing on her experience as a teacher and nonprofit program leader, Jess shared practical ways providers can help families navigate a process that can feel overwhelming — with unfamiliar language, legal requirements, and important decisions about their children’s education.

Helping families feel informed, prepared, and supported at the table is an important part of advancing equity and opportunity for children and families.

We’re grateful to Jess and to the Agenda for Children for bringing providers together to learn from one another — and congratulations to the Agenda for Children on 25 years of this important work!

Today is Hunger Action Day.

This photo shows what access to healthy food can look like: fresh produce, protein, dairy and pantry staples - food that individuals and families can choose and bring home each week.

The need is significant. The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) reports that more than 167,000 people in Massachusetts, including over 60,000 children, lost access to SNAP between November 2025 and July 2026.

As GBFB says simply: “This is devastating.” We agree.

At East End House, we see every week how important consistent access to healthy food is, particularly as families face the continued pressure of high grocery costs.

On Hunger Action Day, we hope you’ll take a moment to learn more about food insecurity in our community and the ways each of us can help—by volunteering, giving, sharing resources or simply helping others understand the need.

This year’s Backpack Drive was our biggest one yet!

Thanks to our incredible community, we distributed 750+ backpacks filled with school supplies to children and families across Greater Cambridge — the largest distribution in the 20-year history of the East End House Backpack Drive!

Since 2006, this partnership between East End House and CambridgeSide has helped local kids start the school year ready to learn. A backpack full of supplies is more than just school gear — it eases the burden on families facing rising costs and helps kids feel prepared, confident, and excited for the year ahead.

A special thank you to Divco West Cambridge Crossing for sending two groups of volunteers to East End House to fill 400 backpacks; your support was critical in getting the drive over the finish line. And to all donors, volunteers, businesses, and community partners who stepped up this year: Thank you. We couldn’t have done it without you.

As Hunger Action Month continues, we want to highlight an amazing volunteer in our Community Food Program: Marcia Harris.

Marcia has been volunteering with us for several years and is a cherished member of the East End House community. Her hard work and positive attitude go a long way in making our Community Food Program a success. For 150 years, East End House has responded as the needs of our community have changed. Today, access to fresh, healthy food is one of those growing needs.

September is Hunger Action Month, and here in Cambridge, the issue is deeply local. Rising food costs and other economic pressures continue to affect children, families, seniors, and individuals throughout our community.

Through our Community Food Program, East End House works alongside our many partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters to help provide access to fresh, nutritious food.

Good dental care is an important part of helping children stay healthy and thrive.

East End House is grateful to ForsythKids of The ADA Forsyth Institute for once again visiting our programs and providing free dental exams for the children we serve.

Our partnership began in 2023, and since then, the Forsyth team has generously visited East End House two to three times each year. During their most recent visit, team members provided attentive, individualized care while making each child feel comfortable and relaxed throughout their exam. Every child also went home with a bag of dental hygiene supplies.

Partnerships like this help East End House connect children and families with important resources that support their overall health and well-being.

Thank you to the entire ForsythKids team for your continued generosity, care, and partnership. We look forward to many more years of working together!
