🎉 From all of us at Sahel Aid!, we wish you a happy and prosperous New Year.
2025 tested us. It was turbulent, exhausting, and often chaotic. But our mission does not bend to funding cycles or political winds. Even with fewer resources—or none at all—we will continue to stand with children in Africa and beyond.

Commitment, not convenience, defines our work

🎄Sahel Aid! wishes a Merry Christmas to all who celebrate — with special thoughts for the people of Eastern Congo.

This Christmas, we celebrate the joy of community and the vital work happening at Notre Dame des ApĂ´tres Seminary, Kitulizo Hospital, and Amkacha Center for people with disabilities.

To serve is central to our mission. Despite limited funds and many barriers, we remain committed to standing with communities in dignity and solidarity.

Wishing everyone a Krismasi Njema, Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noël! Thank you for being a part of the Sahel Aid family.

🌍 For this Giving Tuesday, we want to share our vision at Sahel Aid. We believe every school should be able to offer one free lunch made with locally grown products.

🧡 That’s it. That’s our message this Giving Tuesday — simple, achievable, and powerful.

Humanitarian Saviorism Gone Wild – The school branding of children.
It’s that time of the year again.

Every new school year, we see it across Africa in refugee camps and humanitarian settings: waves of schoolchildren carrying those ubiquitous (and ugly, sorry!) school bags slapped with NGO and UN logos.

Thousands of African (mostly poor) schoolchildren transformed into tiny mobile billboards, courtesy of meticulously logo-stamped backpacks.

This seemingly innocuous practice reveals a darker truth about the humanitarian sector's savior complex industry and goes unchecked.

Because nothing says "we care" quite like turning our children into walking advertisements for our organizational magnificence. Benevolent humanitarians feel the urge to remind our children daily of their "beneficiary status."

Like any good salesperson, they've truly mastered the nefarious act of self-promotion.

I bet you that soon, they are going to display their QR codes linked to their donation pages. Just wait…

Sahel Aid! was started to be different, and we are proudly different.

✡ 🇮🇱 🇵🇸 From all of us at Sahel Aid, we wish you a happy and reflective Passover.

Let us consider these words from Rabbi Shai Held:

"The Bible’s emphasis on empathy is particularly poignant in this agonized moment, when Israelis and Palestinians, two utterly traumatized peoples, are so overcome with grief and indignation that they can barely see each other at all. And yet if there is to one day be a different sort of future in the blood-soaked Holy Land, both peoples will need to do precisely that: to hear each other’s stories and histories, to listen to and bear witness to each other’s suffering." 🇮🇱

🌍 Sahel Aid! demands an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Israel to stop the ongoing slaughter. In these moments of grave crisis, we must prioritize humanity above all.

🌍 With all our experience working in conflict zones, the scale of devastation and loss of life witnessed recently is unparalleled.

🌍 We implore all parties to recognize the critical necessity of a ceasefire to facilitate urgent humanitarian aid and protect innocent lives. Our plea is for restoring peace and reasserting our shared humanity.

🌍 Remaining silent in the face of this human tragedy undermines our shared values and common sense. We must all demand action and contribute towards a resolution. It's a matter of preserving our common humanity!

🌍 As we enter a new year, we're filled with joy and gratitude.

We see the smiles of the young girls and boys we serve in West Africa, which warms our hearts. They're a powerful reminder of why we do what we do at Sahel Aid!

It's not just about aid; it's about enabling moments of joy and fostering a brighter future for these incredible young minds.

We strongly believe in the children of West Africa.

Thank you to all our donors and supporters for being part of our journey as we re-imagine humanitarian assistance in West Africa -- better, more efficient, accountable, and with dignity.
