Last night at around 1810, a tornado warning was issued in Saratoga County and Washington County.
We had a crew enroute to Saratoga Hospital at that time. They were getting reports of a tornado touching down between exits 15 and 16 of the Northway.
Out of an abundance of caution and desire to safely arrive at the hospital, the crew determined the best course of action would be to shelter in place in Schuylerville.
Through coordination with Washington County, NY - Department of Public Safety , our crew was able to connect with Schuyler Hose Co in Schuylerville. They provided shelter in their apparatus bay for our ambulance and crew until the storm passed and they could safely continue on to the hospital.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the dispatchers and the team at Schuyler Hose Co. First response is truly a team sport and we are so grateful for their help ensuring our crew and patient remained safe.

Air medical resources are requested when a patient’s condition requires specialized critical care or rapid transport that exceeds what ground EMS alone can provide. Working together, ground and air crews help ensure patients receive the right level of care as quickly and safely as possible.

To many, he was John Gage from Emergency!—the television paramedic who helped introduce millions of Americans to the then-new world of emergency medical services. At a time when EMS was still in its infancy, Emergency! brought the profession into living rooms across the country and inspired countless EMTs and paramedics to answer the call.

Years ago, Cambridge Rescue Squad had the privilege of welcoming Randolph as the guest speaker at our annual banquet. Our members who were there still speak fondly of that evening, remembering him not as a television star, but as a genuinely kind, humble, and down-to-earth man who made everyone feel like an old friend.

These photos are a snapshot of a special night in our squad’s history and a reminder that the greatest legacies are built not only through the roles we play, but through the lives we touch.

Thank you, Randolph, for championing EMS, inspiring generations of providers, and for your kindness to our members and community.

Earlier this year, our friends at Ace Hardware launched a campaign at their Cambridge location where community donations were matched and contributed to our agency.

Support like this allows CVRS to continue providing high-quality emergency medical care and healthcare services to our community.

Through community donations and the matching campaign, a total of $2,973.72 was raised. These funds will go directly toward operational expenses, helping ensure we can continue delivering timely and reliable care to those we serve.

As we reach the halfway point of Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind our members, colleagues, and community that strength isn't about bottling things up or pretending everything is fine.

Real strength is having the courage to talk, to feel, and to ask for help when you need it.

For those in EMS and public safety, that can be especially difficult. We spend our days helping others through crises, trauma, illness, and loss, often while carrying the weight of those experiences ourselves. Research has shown that EMS professionals experience higher rates of depression, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts than the general population.

At Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, we are committed to fostering a culture where our members and community are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and seeking help is a sign of strength—not weakness.

Normally we would wait until the end of the month to share our call data, however, this June has already been an especially busy month—and we are only halfway through it.

Through June 15th, we have been dispatched to 190 calls. These include 911 emergency responses, community paramedicine home visits (where multiple visits in a day are counted as a single call), standbys for system status management or community events, and interfacility transfers.

Notably, on Friday, June 5th, we responded to 18 calls, and on Sunday, June 14th, we responded to 23 calls.

Throughout the month, we have been dispatched to calls in the following districts: Cambridge, Hoosick, Skenesborough (Whitehall), Salem, Easton-Greenwich, Granville, Fort Edward, Petersburgh, Pittstown, Bennington, Arlington, and Manchester. This means we have responded across three counties and two states.

Importantly, zero calls within our primary coverage area of Cambridge, White Creek, and Jackson were turned over to mutual aid during this time.

In addition, we have handled transports out of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Saratoga Hospital, and Glens Falls Hospital, including two long-distance transfers to hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts.

We could not meet this level of demand without the dedication of our incredible staff and volunteers who make up the heart of this agency. They continue to show up day after day, providing high-quality care and always putting patients first.

We are also grateful for the strong working relationships we maintain with the many partner agencies we respond alongside.
