Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Inc A combined paid/volunteer ambulance service operating in Washington and Northern Rensselaer Counties

The Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Inc (CVRS) provides emergency medical services (EMS) to the Cambridge community as well as surrounding communities. The organization was founded in 1969 and operates as a not-for-profit private ambulance service. CVRS responds primarily to 911 calls in the towns of Jackson, White Creek, and Cambridge as well as parts of Easton and Shushan. We provide the primary ALS service for the village of Hoosick Falls and much of the town of Hoosick. In addition we respond to mutual aid throughout Washington county and northern Rensselaer County. CVRS also provides non-emergency transportation for patients from hospitals back to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and residences in Hoosick Falls and throughout Washington County. We are a contracted ambulance service with Medicaid to provide transportation to and from doctor's appointments when an ambulance is necessary. We are the only ambulance service to contract with both hospice organizations in Washington county to provide transportation to hospice patients. Additionally, CVRS provides emergency transportation from Southwestern Vermont Medical Center to acute care facilities in Troy and Albany. We have also transported patients as far as Boston, MA, New York City, Westchester, Utica, Plattsburgh, Katonah, Burlington, VT, and Lebanon, NH. CVRS also provides event medical services to various local events such as the Tour of the Battenkill and the Fronhofer Tool Triathlon. In addition, we have provided event medical services to the Otis Mountain Music Festival in Elizabethtown, NY and Iron Man in Lake Placid, NY. CVRS is also at the forefront of community paramedicine and is working with other local agencies to provide services that fill the health care gaps in the community. We provide AHA courses that are open to public and continuing education classes open to EMS providers of all levels. CVRS prides itself on being a volunteer organization at its core and we strive to continue that tradition of providing excellent medical care to the community through a combination of volunteer and paid providers. CVRS Announces Interim Leadership:
Following the departure of Chief Mark Spiezio, the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad Board of Directors has appointed an interim leadership team to help guide the organization through this transition.

We are pleased to announce:
Adrienne Hamilton, Paramedic — Interim Chief

Adrienne has been a member of CVRS for 15 years and has spent 14 of those years serving in operational leadership roles, including Lieutenant and Captain. Most recently, she has overseen agency-wide clinical education as the Assistant Chief.

In addition to her operational responsibilities, Adrienne has been involved in community outreach and education. She is a former Certified Lab Instructor and currently serves as an American Heart Association instructor in all disciplines.

Jerry Gillis, Paramedic — Interim Assistant Chief

Jerry has been part of CVRS for 10 years and brings a strong understanding of both the operational and organizational sides of the agency. He has previously served on our Board of Directors and currently serves as our Quartermaster, overseeing the ordering and management of agency supplies.

Tyler Freemantle, Paramedic — Interim Deputy Chief

Tyler has been a member of CVRS for nearly five years, but brings a wealth of EMS experience from his years of service with other agencies throughout the region. He has most recently served CVRS as an Operations Captain and has been an important part of our operational leadership.

Transitions like this are never small, particularly following nearly four decades of leadership from Chief Spiezio. However, CVRS has always been built on the people who step forward when they are needed, and we are fortunate to have experienced members willing to take on these responsibilities.

This interim leadership team will work together with our members, officers, and Board of Directors to maintain the high level of service our community depends on while continuing to move CVRS forward.

Please join us in congratulating Adrienne, Jerry, and Tyler on their new roles and supporting them as they take on these responsibilities.

Like many emergency service agencies across the country, Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad sent members to Manhattan in the days following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Those who went carried with them the responsibility to help—and returned with memories and experiences they would never forget.

Today, there are members of our agency who were not yet born when the towers fell. There are others who were children and remember only fragments of that day. But through the stories of those who were there, the lessons of that time, and the lives forever changed, we continue to remember.

We remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives.
We remember the first responders who ran toward the danger.
We remember those who became sick and died in the years that followed.
And we remember the families, friends, and communities who continue to carry that loss.

Twenty-five years later, we will never forget.
