Navratri is more than nine nights of celebration. It brings together three essential parts of a flourishing life.

Love lives in our devotion to the Goddess and the bonds we share with family and friends.

Learning comes through the courage, patience, discipline and compassion that the festival reminds us to practise.

Play comes alive in Garba and Dandiya, where people move together, share joy and become fully present in the moment.

At UEF, we call these three deepest longings Love, Learn, Play.

You don’t have to be good at badminton to enjoy the game.

Not every activity needs to lead to mastery or achievement. Some things are worth doing simply because they make us laugh, help us learn, and bring us into the moment.

Let yourself be a beginner. Make mistakes. Enjoy the process.

You don’t have to win the game to flourish.

Even during difficult times, there can be moments worth holding close: a friend’s support, a little beauty in the everyday, or a lesson that helps us grow.

Gratitude doesn’t take away our struggles. It helps us recognize the good that exists alongside them.

To flourish is to Love, Learn, and Play.

Not knowing how things will turn out doesn’t mean we have to stop moving forward.

There are still people to care for, dreams worth pursuing, and possibilities worth exploring. Hope helps us keep going, even when the road ahead feels uncertain.

We may not be able to predict tomorrow, but the choices we make today can help shape it.

Did you know Angkor Wat, one of the world's largest religious monuments, began as a Hindu temple in Cambodia?

Built in the 12th century, it drew on Hindu ideas, which Khmer builders transformed into something unmistakably their own.

A beautiful reminder that ideas travel, cultures connect, and creativity creates something new from what we learn.

Receive deeply, then create freely.
To flourish is to Love, Learn, and Play.

Long before today's famous universities, Sumatra was already a center of learning.

More than 1,300 years ago, the Chinese Buddhist monk Yijing stopped there on his journey to India and found scholars studying Buddhist texts, language, and philosophy.

His story reminds us that knowledge has always traveled across cultures, carried by people curious enough to learn from one another.

The pursuit of wisdom has never belonged to just one place or people.
To flourish is to Love, Learn, and Play.

What if creating something could help you move through something difficult?

In this conversation, Lana Jade shares how she created an upbeat song with the intention of moving through a deeply difficult experience.

She listened carefully to each version, noticed how the music felt in her body and chose the one that made her want to move and sing.

It was not just about creating a song. It was about using music, movement and creativity to process an experience.

Forgiveness can affirm the dignity and worth of others while helping communities bring hidden wounds into the open.

It can create space to understand the impact of systemic injustice, recognize our place within it, and ask an important question: How can we work together to transform what has caused harm?

Forgiveness can open a path toward healing, understanding, and change.

How do three simple human longings become so much of what makes life worth living?

Love becomes friendship, family, care and belonging. Learning becomes curiosity, discovery, science and wisdom. Play becomes music, art, humour, adventure and celebration.

Then they come together. We learn from the people we love. We build friendships through play. We play with ideas and discover something new.

At UEF, we call Love, Learn, Play the Triple Helix of Human Flourishing.

Our deepest longings do not just shape what we experience. They help us create it.

What will you create through Love, Learn, or Play today?
