I Am My Sister is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers girls and women through programs focused on health and wellness, positive self-image, leadership, advocacy, and career exploration while building a sense of community amongst sisters. Join us in creating a vibrant community that uplifts and empowers girls and young women. Let's celebrate their talents, educate them with knowledge, and equip them with the skills they need to thrive in the world. Together, we can make a difference and help them reach their full potential!

🩷🖤 NEW NAME. BIGGER VISION!

My Big Sister’s Closet is becoming THE STUDIO! 🎉

What started as a space for girls is growing into something bigger! We’re opening the doors to boys too (approved areas), and creating a space where students can shop, discover their style, and learn valuable life skills along the way.

And we’re keeping what makes this experience special! Students will still use their IAMS Bucks to shop and have opportunities to earn more through positive choices and achievements.

Because this has never been just about clothes. It’s about building confidence, teaching responsibility, encouraging sustainability, and giving our young people a space that truly feels like theirs.

New name. Bigger vision. Same heart. Same purpose.

Hempstead, we’re officially in the building! 💗👑

We’ve officially kicked off The Sister Society at Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome these young ladies into the I Am My Sister family!

We’re looking forward to building relationships, having real conversations, creating new experiences, and giving these girls a space where they can show up as themselves, grow, and support one another.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what this sisterhood becomes!

What a night! 🍂✨

Autumn Under the Lights was everything we hoped it would be and more! ❤️

There was something so special about looking around and seeing people just enjoying themselves. No rushing, no pressure, just good people, amazing food, drinks, s’mores, laughter, and great conversations.

And can we talk about Jen, Herb, and John?! 🎶 They were AMAZING! The music was the perfect touch to an already beautiful evening.

Sometimes we get so caught up in everything life throws at us that we forget how good it feels to just slow down, kick back, and enjoy each other’s company. Last night was a reminder of how much we need moments like these.

To everyone who came out, volunteered, donated, cooked, helped set up, or supported us in any way, THANK YOU! You helped make this night something special.

This is what I love about community. And this is what I Am My Sister is all about. Bringing people together, building connections, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.

It has taken me a little while to make this announcement. I think, in part, because putting it into words makes it real.

This is one of the hardest posts I have ever had to make as President of I Am My Sister—but also as a mother.

Dr. Annalise Henry wasn’t just a member of our Board. She was my friend. And before that, she was one of the people who helped my daughter make it through high school.

My daughter struggled with anxiety and depression, and Dr. Henry, as her school psychologist, became part of the support system she could depend on every single day. She created a safe space for her when school and life felt like too much. As a parent, there are no words for what it means to know that when you cannot be there, someone else is looking out for your child, listening to her, supporting her and helping her find her way through.

Dr. Henry was that person for my daughter.

And I will forever be grateful.

Somewhere along the way, I was also blessed to call her my friend and eventually welcome her into the I Am My Sister family as a Board Member. She believed in this work because she understood firsthand just how important it is for girls to have safe spaces, strong support systems and people who genuinely see them.

My heart is broken. Our hearts are broken.

But I know one of the greatest ways we can honor Dr. Henry is through the work we continue to do.

We will keep talking about mental health.

We will keep creating spaces where girls don’t have to struggle alone.

We will keep building sisterhood and support systems around them.

And we will keep reminding every girl that there should always be someone she can turn to when life gets heavy.

Dr. Henry was that someone for my daughter.

I know she was that someone for so many others, too.

Rest peacefully, my friend. 🤍

Your impact will continue to live through the lives you touched—and through the work we will carry forward in your honor.
