. Startup Weekend Ventura County is a joint effort between the private and the public sectors. It has put together a comprehensive infrastructure to help entrepreneurs get started on the right foundation. I call on all entrepreneurial agriculturalists, plant scientists, physicians, healthcare professionals, engineers, programmers, and system analysts to participate. Let’s together make our district a hot bed of innovation once more.

1. Access to and recruitment of domain experts – We pair domain experts with entrepreneurs and enable the formation of multidisciplinary teams.
2. Access to successful entrepreneurs – We organize experienced entrepreneurs with proven track records and make them approachable as mentors and/or board members.
3. Access to corporate partners – We assemble a panel of
judges consisting of decision-makers of significant corporations so that entrepreneurs can present their product ideas in the hope of securing endorsements and/or business partnerships.
4. Non-dilutive seed capital – We provide to the winning startups cash rewards, with no strings attached, so that the entrepreneurs have the seed money needed to seek additional investors.
