VCCF President & CEO Vanessa Bechtel and her husband, Jim, enjoyed the Santa Barbara Zoo's 40th annual Zoofari Ball last weekend along with CSU Channel Islands’s Interim President, Dr. Susan Andrzejewski, and other members of the university! This year's theme was "Atlantis Rising", submersing the evening with Grecian decor and a historical atmosphere, and featured a silent auction with proceeds going to support the Santa Barbara Zoo. The celebration is held every year at the zoo in support of wildlife and conservation.

Thank you to SB Zoo for this wonderful evening and cause, and we look forward to your collaboration with CSUCI for their campus's future Conservation Center!

Having been present in the Conejo Valley for over 60 years, AAUW Thousand Oaks works to advance equity for women and girls through programs strengthening economic opportunities, educational programs and scholarships, philanthropy and more.

The Environmental Workforce Collaborative, a VCCF-managed initiative focused on improving the sustainability of Ventura County’s ecosystems, was recently featured in an article from Edison International! In the article, The C.R.E.W. was highlighted for their efforts in helping to clean up our region’s habitats, as well as their mission to help create pathways for young adults to pursue careers in conservation.

The EWC is a partnership between The CREW - Concerned Resource & Environmental Workers, Safe Passage Youth Foundation, the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, the Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council, Los Padres ForestWatch, and the Ventura County Community Foundation. This Collaborative was made possible by funding from Edison International.

VCCF's Mike Silacci had the pleasure of attending MCGiveBack's annual State of the College gathering, where Moorpark College President Julius Sokenu shared highlights of their academic programs and student-success initiatives, and to celebrate accomplishments with campus leaders and community supporters. His presentation also included exciting news on upcoming initiatives as the school celebrates its 60th anniversary next year. We are excited to see our Ventura County students continue to thrive, and proud of the decades of student success that Moorpark College has helped to foster!

VCCF's Marketing & Communications team took a group outing to soak up some of Ventura County's wonderful summer offerings! The trip brought the team to Ventura Botanical Gardens for their Summer Hummerz immersive experience which goes through August 31, followed by a visit to Museum of Ventura County to view their exhibits, including Parallel Histories, Patriotic Threads, a nature-filled mural by MB Hanrahan in the Museum’s Children’s Garden and more (bonus: MVC August admission is free, so no excuses)! Between the scenery, the fauna, and the county's rich history, it's safe to say this was a summer highlight for our team. We hope you're finding time to enjoy everything Ventura County has to offer this season too!
