Ventura County Crime Stoppers

Ventura County Crime Stoppers A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which solves crimes by fostering cooperation between law enforcement, the media and community members.

The Ventura County Crime Stoppers program began in Thousand Oaks on October 1, 1986. The program has since expanded to include the other communities in Ventura County. Through 2007, the only means of providing tips was through the bilingual call center. Tips were then faxed to the coordinator who had to either fax or call them in to the appropriate agency. In mid-2007, we added the ability to rece

ive and send tips to email accounts, including those on a BlackBerry, simultaneous with the fax. This gave us 24/7 coverage. As of January 2008, we've added the capability to provide tips via the internet with 2-way communication capabilities while protecting the anonymity of the tipster. As of February 2008, tips can be submitted via text message, also with 2-way communication capabilities. As of March 2008, law enforcement agencies are able to log on to our TipSoft tip and intelligence management system via the internet. Ventura County Crime Stoppers is run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Since January of 2007, in partnership with the Ventura County Star, six fugitives have been profiled in the Star each Tuesday. http://www.venturacountystar.com/

Members of the Board are willing to address Groups and Organizations on Crime in the Community and how Ventura County Crime Stoppers with the cooperation of the Community can help to lower the crime rate.

UPDATE - ARREST MADE:

With great thanks to Oxnard Police Department detectives, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Crime Lab, and the FBI's Investigative Genetic Genealogy team, an arrest has been made in the November 13, 2014, stabbing death of Oxnard resident, Labh Nigah.

According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Jose Jimenez, 32, who lived just blocks from the crime scene, is in custody facing a murder charge with three enhancements: the use of a knife, “great violence,” and the ambush of the victim. There was no evidence that Labh and the suspect knew each other. In addition, no motive was identified other than that the murder was unprovoked, random and violent.

Despite the case remaining cold for more than 10 years, investigators never wavered in their resolve. Finally, long‑delayed movement specific to DNA technology resulted in an arrest.

There are many murders and heinous crimes that remain to be solved. Although these offenses are slowly being resolved through DNA, there remains the need for solid, actionable tips.

If you know something, say something. There are three ways to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers: 1) call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 800-222-8477; 2) visit P3Tips.com or download the P3Tips app; or 3) visit venturacountycrimestoppers.org and click on “Submit a Tip.” Should your anonymous tip result in a felony arrest, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 through Crime Stoppers.

Your identity is always encrypted and anonymous. No personal information, phone number, e-mail, IP address or location is ever requested, saved, traced, tracked or monitored. It is not necessary to testify to receive a reward, and you remain 100% anonymous without fear of retaliation.

In addition, you can always contact local law enforcement or the Ventura County Cold Case Unit at (805) 383-8739 or email [email protected].
