An amazing group of friends are spearheading this year’s event, again. Happy December! This year is the 16th annual Castro Family Toy Drive benefiting the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at VCMC. An amazing group of friends are spearheading this year’s event. There are over 60 families still in need to be adopted for the annual Christmas Party/Drive Thru. Hey everyone!! We hope all of you had an amazing Thanksgiving and survived Black Friday. This year we have nearly 100 families to adopt from the Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Diseases at VCMC. There is still over 70 families left to adopt. Please let us know if you can donate and help out these incredible families.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Our annual event is happening this year. An amazing group & one of my greatest friends is organizing our annual toy drive and Christmas event benefiting the families of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at VCMC. If you are looking to give back during the holidays, we are looking for individuals, groups or businesses to adopt families for Christmas. This year we have approximately 95 families who are looking to be adopted for the holidays. You can email [email protected] or send me a message if you wish to adopt a family. For the last 15 years our little family has been supporting the Children’s Cancer and Blood Diseases at VCMC, it has taught us so much and we’ve been thoroughly loved/accepted by the VC community. With all of your help we’ve been able to provide Christmas for over 4,000 children!! Not in my wildest dreams did I think that our family would make this kind of impact to the children and families who are battling life and earth diseases in our community. In saying that, our family will be stepping away from providing the annual Christmas party for the patients and their families. Our family has quite a bit of things going on, health, change and the lack of time to coordinate everything. Our family will continue on filling the toy box in treatment center but the annual Christmas event takes too much time away from what is happening with our family. I want to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, friends, the treatment center but most of all the patients and the families for trusting us to be in their lives for so many years. We will always support Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases because they have done so much for us and the center is like family. Last thing, I want to thank my kids for coming up with the idea for filling the toy box and providing Christmas to the patients and their families, your compassion, love for others, kindest and resilience has taught me and so many other so much.

Hey everyone! One of the patients, a recently diagnosed leukemia patient had his bike stolen. This amazing 17 year old boy rides his bike to school, sometimes appointments and this is his only mode of transportation. Even though he is battling his disease but still getting to school on his bike. He put LED Lights on his tires recently so it’s safer riding his bike at night. It looks like we got most of the cost of the bike taken care of but we are looking for donations for a new backpack, jacket, lock and a chain. Message me if you would like to help out this incredible teen. Let him know his community supports him.

Thank you to everyone who donated toys & gifts . All of these toys will fill the toy box in the treatment center for the next 6-9 months. The children going through chemo, treatments, blood transfusions for cancer, bone or blood diseases are so grateful to receive a toy after their treatments. I’m glad the patients and their families know they have a community behind them when they are battling everyday to fight their diseases. 805 thank you for supporting us in filling the toy box for the last 15 years.

That’s a wrap on year 13 of our annual Christmas Party for the families of the Children’s Cancer & Blood Diseases at VCMC. We cannot thank all of the donor, volunteers, donations and the continued support from our community. We feel so lucky to be able to put our family’s name on this event that brings so much happiness to the patients and families of the treatment center. Thanks again for all of the love and support. Thank you to my children (Corey & Paige) for starting this community tradition.

First day of drop off for adopt a family. Nothing better than getting to see friends who are like family. Thank you to everyone who dropped off their donations today. Tomorrow we will be from 12-3pm. Special thanks to Gibbs Trucking for your continued support!!

The 13th Annual Toy Drive / Adopt-A-Family for the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at VCMC is underway!! We will not be having our regular Christmas Party for the patients and their families but once again an adopt a family and drive through gift giving. The last two years were a huge success, the families have loved it. We currently have over 50 families that still need to be adopted. The families left are quite small (1 or 2 children). Each child is given a $50 limit. If you are unable to adopt a whole family, please consider donating grocery cards, gas gift cards, Target, Walmart or any other retailer gift card that would help out our families at the treatment center.
