No World War II veteran should have to sleep on a futon because he can no longer get to his bedroom. 🇺🇸💙 When Joseph's wife called GCVF, she explained that he had been sleeping downstairs because he could no longer safely navigate the stairs in their home. She asked if we had a hospital bed available while they waited for other options.

Our team immediately sprang into action.

We delivered a hospital bed and equipment to their home in Simi Valley, removed the futon, and set up a safe and comfortable space for Joseph. We've since returned with additional supplies and adjustments to make sure he has everything he needs. His family's gratitude reminds us why this work matters. Sometimes, a simple act of support can make a world of difference.

It's an honor to serve veterans like Joseph.

Today, we celebrate two enduring symbols of our nation’s history: Flag Day and the birthday of the United States Army. 🇺🇸

On June 14, we commemorate the adoption of the American flag in 1777, a powerful symbol of freedom, unity, and the sacrifices made to protect them. We also honor the founding of the U.S. Army in 1775, the oldest branch of our military and one that has defended our nation for more than 250 years.

Additionally, we proudly salute the soldiers, veterans, and military families who have served under the Stars and Stripes with courage, dedication, and selfless service.
Please join us in wishing the U.S. Army a happy birthday and taking a moment to reflect on what our flag represents: the freedoms we enjoy and the heroes who have helped preserve them. ❤️🤍💙

Today, we honor the women who have served our nation with courage, dedication, and strength.

On Women Veterans Day, we commemorate the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, which was signed into law on June 12, 1948, allowing women to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Women veterans have broken barriers, answered the call to serve, and made invaluable contributions to our military and our country. Today, and every day, we recognize their sacrifices, celebrate their achievements, and thank them for their service.

At GCVF, we are proud to support women veterans in our community as they navigate housing (with our national Vivian's Outreach to Women grant from the DAR), employment, benefits, and other challenges after military service. Join us in honoring the women who served.

June 6, 1944: A Day That Changed History

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering determination of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day during World War II. More than 160,000 troops took part in the historic invasion, facing extraordinary danger in the fight to liberate Europe and defend freedom. Their bravery altered the course of history and remains an enduring example of service and sacrifice.

As we commemorate D-Day, we remember those who gave their lives, honor the veterans who carried out this mission, and express our gratitude to all who served during World War II. May we never forget the heroes of Normandy and the freedoms secured through their sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙

⛳️ We have exciting news to share! Our 2026 18th Annual Veteran Memorial Golf Classic was the most successful fundraiser in GCVF history!

This incredible achievement would not have been possible without our generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers, enthusiastic golfers, auction participants, and supporters who came together to make a difference for local veterans.

Because of your support, we raised critical funds that will help provide housing assistance, food support, transportation, medical equipment, benefits assistance, and other life changing services for veterans and their families throughout our community.

Every registration, sponsorship, donation, and bid helped make this impact possible. From all of us at GCVF, thank you for helping us improve the lives of those who served our country. We are grateful beyond words. 🇺🇸

The transition from military service to civilian life isn’t always easy, but no veteran should have to navigate it alone. 🇺🇸

At GCVF, we help veterans take the next step forward through career counseling, resume support, job search assistance, and connections with local employers.

Our volunteer career coach meets with veterans weekly to help build confidence, open doors, and create new opportunities for success.

💼 If you or a veteran you know could benefit from career support, contact us to schedule a meeting with our Career Counselor at https://gcvf.org/about/contact-us/

One incredible evening. More than $25,000 raised for local veterans. 🇺🇸 A huge thank you to Supervisor Jeff Gorell, all attendees, sponsors, and supporters of the 2nd Annual Supervisorial Leadership & Excellence Awards.

Not only did the event celebrate outstanding leaders making a difference in our community, but it also raised more than $25,000 to support GCVF’s Mobile Veterans Outreach program. A program providing critical, on the ground assistance to Ventura County veterans in need. These funds will directly help veterans access housing support, transportation, resources, and essential care.

We are deeply honored that GCVF was chosen as the beneficiary of this meaningful event. Thank you for believing in our mission and standing with local veterans. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. 💙
