Answer the Call ❤️

A 4-year-old little boy and his 18-month-old sister arrived at Niños de Baja this week. While most toddlers are learning to run and explore, this little girl has spent the last several days in the hospital fighting severe malnutrition.

No child should have to begin life this way.

Today, they have a chance at a different future—a bed to sleep in, food, medical care, an education, and people who will love them unconditionally.

Maybe you’ve been thinking about sponsoring a child. Maybe you’ve felt that gentle tug on your heart but haven’t taken the next step. What if that tug is the Lord placing this child on your heart for a purpose?

Today our friends at Deer Flat Church began their Vacation Bible School with a beautiful and joyful theme: “Let’s Go to Mexico!”

What makes this even more special is that it’s not just a week of fun, games, and learning for the kids—it’s also a week of purpose. Through their VBS, they are raising funds for Niños de Baja, helping support children who are deeply loved, valued, and in need of hope.

It’s powerful to see young hearts learning that faith is not just something we talk about—it’s something we live out through compassion, generosity, and action. Every smile, every activity, every dollar raised becomes part of a bigger story of impact far beyond our own community.

May we never overlook the beauty of moments like these—when joy and purpose come together, and when even the smallest acts of giving help change lives.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our Tías and house parents who pour so much love into the lives of our children each and every day. Thank you for the hugs, the prayers, the encouragement, the late nights, the laughter, the patience, and the countless quiet moments of care that help our kids feel safe, loved, and never alone.

You are a steady presence in their lives, reminding them that they matter, that they are worthy of love, and that there are people cheering them on every step of the way. The compassion and tenderness you show leaves a lasting impact far beyond what words can express. Today we celebrate and honor the beautiful hearts behind the care you give so selflessly.

Niños de Baja is filled with gratitude as we celebrate days Five and Six of Volunteer Appreciation Week, reflecting on the many beautiful ways our volunteers serve. Every visit, every moment, and every act of service becomes part of a greater story here—one shaped by spreading joy, pouring out love, and building connection.

Thank you to those who bring laughter, smiles, and unforgettable moments to our children through play and simple joy. You remind them that despite what they’ve walked through, they are still children who deserve to laugh, play, dream, and simply be kids.

Thank you to those who pour out love through hugs, encouragement, prayers, and quiet acts of kindness. You remind every child that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.

And thank you to those who build connection—taking time to know names, hear stories, and create belonging.

You are the hands and feet of Jesus, showing His heart in every moment of service.

Day Four of Volunteer Appreciation Week, and today we are celebrating the incredible volunteers who come to serve through WORK PROJECTS at Niños de Baja!

The growth and expansion of Niños de Baja has only been possible because faithful individuals and teams who said yes to showing up ready to work.

From digging foundations, laying tile, painting walls, pouring concrete, hanging drywall, and completing projects big and small—you have helped create a place where children can feel safe, loved, and at home.

Your impact has also reached beyond our gates into the El Porvenir community through painting schools, serving in homeless encampments, cleaning public park bathrooms, and meeting practical needs wherever they arise.

Every hour given and every task completed has become part of something far greater—you have helped build hope.

Thank you to every volunteer who has served with strength, skill, and humility. Because of you, lives have been touched, spaces have been transformed, and hope continues to grow.

Day Three of Volunteer Appreciation Week, and today we are celebrating the incredible volunteers who come to serve by sharing a meal with our children and staff at Niños de Baja!!

There is something powerful about gathering around the table. A meal is more than food—it is love, connection, comfort, and a reminder that no one is forgotten. Our meal team volunteers help create moments of joy and belonging every time they serve.

Because of God’s provision and faithful volunteers, we serve over 65,000 meals every year!

That includes: • 160 eggs for breakfast • 200 pounds of tortillas each month • 60 pounds of rice each month • 100 pounds of beans each month • 160 pounds of chicken each month

That is a whole lot of food—and a whole lot of love being poured out every single day!

To every volunteer who has cooked, served, cleaned, smiled, and shared a meal with our children—thank you. You are filling hearts as much as plates.

Today marks the start of Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 19–25), and at Niños de Baja, this week holds deep meaning.

Every day, we witness volunteers who show up with open hands and open hearts—quietly changing lives through love and service.

Behind every child cared for, every meal served, every project completed, and every moment of hope shared, there is someone who chose to show up.

Our volunteers are not just helping hands—they are the heart and backbone of this mission. Because of them, our children are seen, safe, and deeply loved.

Some serve meals, some mentor, some build and repair, some organize behind the scenes, and others travel great distances just to serve.

Each one plays a vital role in this work, and Niños de Baja would not be the same without them.

All week long, we’ll be highlighting the incredible volunteers who make this possible.
