🌱AGROS UPDATE
Thread by Thread: Juana's Story
From her home in La Pista, Guatemala, Juana Raymundo is weaving a brighter future for her family and community. At 31, she lives with her husband, Miguel Pérez, and their three children: Benjamín, Juan David, and little Marta Arelis.
Juana learned to weave as a child, carrying on a tradition passed down through generations. Today, with her loom and her skilled hands, she creates blouses, scarves, and morrales—traditional woven bags.
Through the Agros program, WEP (Women's Entrepreneurial Program), Juana gained financial support to buy thread regularly without relying on high-interest loans. Once limited to selling her work one piece at a time, she can now sell by the dozen, earning a more stable income. As her business grows, she also employs others in her workshop, expanding opportunities within her community.
Training has helped her manage her business and plan ahead. Juana dreams of opening her own clothing store one day. With her loom as witness and her children as motivation, she is weaving not just products, but opportunity, perseverance, and hope.
