Copper Country Firefighters History Museum 1898 Historic Building located on the National Register of Historic Places located in Calumet, MI.

A Heritage site affiliated with the Keweenaw National Historical Park. Four Historic American LaFrance pumpers 1919 - 1950, one 1942 Ford, several hose carts and a 1857 Hand Pumper which required 12 men to operate and pull to the destination. A circa 1900 Funeral Wagon the type that was used during the funeral of the 1913 Italian Hall Tragedy. Exhibits featuring the Italian Hall Tragedy where 73 d

ied when a false alarm FIRE was announced. Working exhibits featuring the Gamewell Alarm Box system that was used by the community from the 1880's until the 1950's. Numerous other historic fire fighting apparatus displayed on two floors of the 1898 Historic Fire Station. A shoulder patch display featuring 500+ fire department shoulder patches. Historic Red Jacket Fire Station, Calumet, Michigan. 1898 vintage. The alarm box is mounted on the front of the Fire Station. It was sounded many times, once on December 24, 2913 for the Italian Hall Tragedy when 73 persons died in a stairway from suffocating, being trampled
, crushed in a rush to exit the second floor when someone yelled fire, a False Alarm!!
