When the Lake View Cemetery was established in 1894, local folks began to have their loved ones moved to the new location as Hecla and Schoolcraft were full and you couldn't get places near them. The new cemetery also offered perpetual maintenance. In 1898, Hannah (Foley) Clemo (1830 Ireland - 1894 Calumet) was moved from Hecla to Lake View.
Either at that time or later, as other family members were buried and a desire for matching stone prevailed, Hannah's family had her original monument replaced. It could also have been because of the scale of the monument; usually, only one of any size is permitted in each family lot.
But wait! The original can still be found in the former yard of a now-demolished marble and granite works shop nearby!
This is one of the reasons you might find gravestones in unusual places.
