We are excited to announce that we have raised sufficient funds for our window project and that work will begin this Saturday! Now we turn attention to the floor in the main building that has water damage and due to the age of the tiles we obviously can’t get any replacement tiles Therefore we will need to place a new floor over top of the entire existing one This is going to be another expensive project due to Labor and materials.

Hi I am the Holy trinity Episcopal church in Callaway. The historical society would like to help repair and protect my beautiful stained glass windows. A new 1/4 inch Acrylic cover will be placed on the out side to help protect them from wind and hail each window will be handled with the utmost care and restored or repaired based on its individual needs.

All of this work requires a great deal of money but without this work these beautiful historic windows could be lost forever. If you feel so inclined any donation towards this would be greatly appreciated. If you do send a donation please be sure you designate it to the church. So we can be sure it goes to this project and not into just general donations Thank you so much for reading this post

You may have seen several posts in the last year involving the Episcopal church. The church is actually owned by the village of Callaway it was gifted to them by the diocese when the attendance level became so low that they felt it was time to close the particular building and give away the building at the time it was required that the building, or property be given to a government entity so the village agreed to accept it many years later due to the historicalvalue of the church the village asked the historical society if they would take over the maintenance of it. To which they agreed at the time there wasn’t much That needed to be done as the building had been being used and maintained by the diocese. As the years have gone by the lack of regular use , age and the fact that thst there is no temperature regulation source in the build has taken its toll on the structure plaster is falling down on the inside especially around the old bell tower the historical society has recently repainted the building an bricked in the broken basement Windows these projects have been funded completely by donations designated strictly for use at the church. A couple of the things onthe wish list for the church To replace the fallen plaster. Probably with some other sort of covering unfortunately. Because unless we can get temperature control inside the building the same thing would happen with new plaster temperature control units would most likely require updating the electrical wiring throughout the church.all of this is very costly and since we operate strictly on donations and dues and grants for all of our 5 buildings. The money has to be prioritized and can’t all be designated to one of the locations we are responsible for all donations are are appreciated and can be designated to any building or project. Thank you for supporting the historical society

Did you know that our quaint community of Callaway, Nebraska was officially named after the first president of the American Locomotive Company, Samuel R. Callaway?
Mr. Callaway was originally born in Ontario, Canada in 1850 and quickly made his way to the top of the Railroad Scene in the United States throughout his life.
As many people may know, Callaway, NE started as a Railroad town and to this day you can enter our Village and see evidence of that with the Union Pacific Railcar located in our town square. Stop by the Seven valleys historical society Museum to find out more fun and interesting facts about our cozy town!
