💜🐾 Understanding IBD: What Nigel’s Diagnosis Means 🐾💜

In dogs with IBD, the immune system causes ongoing inflammation within the intestines. Over time, this inflammation can make it difficult to properly digest food and absorb nutrients, which may lead to weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, and changes in appetite.

Nigel is now beginning dietary changes and additional medications to help manage his condition and support healthy weight gain.

💜 Nigel Update 💜

Good news for our sweet boy!

Nigel’s biopsy results showed Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) with no evidence of cancer. We are thankful to finally have answers and a path forward.

Thank you for all the prayers, love, and support you’ve shown Nigel these past few days. Please continue to cheer him on as he begins treatment and works toward regaining the weight he has lost. 🐾💜

Nigel, a 7-year-old English Bulldog and one of Dr. Brooke Davis’ beloved legacy animals, is undergoing an endoscopic procedure to help determine the cause of ongoing weight loss and intestinal disease despite extensive testing and treatment.

Today’s biopsies will hopefully provide answers and help guide the next steps in his care.

Nigel has been a trooper through it all, and we are hopeful for good news.

☀️🐾 BBQ reminder: not all cookout foods are safe for pets!

🚫 Avoid sharing:
• cooked bones
• corn cobs
• onions & garlic
• grapes & raisins
• chocolate
• alcohol
• fatty/greasy meats

Even small amounts can make pets very sick.

✅ Safer treats:
plain chicken, carrots, blueberries & seedless watermelon 🍉🐶
