The Friends of the Sonny Bono Salton Sea NWR is a support group for the refuge and is part of the Sea and Desert Interpretive Association, a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose goal is to promote education and awareness of the
Salton Sea and its surrounding natural areas. The SDIA is dedicated to supporting and promoting educational and interpretive programs which allows the public to become aware of the uniqueness of this large body of salt water.
