I have been putting off this post since last month. To be honest, I haven't posted anything at all.

Leia was the last dog I physically picked up from the shelter. She only stayed with me a few days, and then her real (foster) Mom came to meet her.

Last month, we said see ya later. Her body was done fighting the cancer and her mom knew. It was hardest on her rightfully so, and everyone here at HHR as well.

Leia was the epitome of her breed.. she was quick to get your ankles and then maybe accept you later. She was a toy hoarder. Even if she doesn't want it, it was hers. She learned to live with cats and had to share her mom with the OG pack. They were a family. She moved to Florida, and then back again. She was what we call a forever foster. Leia lived a great life with Skye and the pack. She was all that and more.

I'm not sure why this has been so hard to post. But it has. I'm still not sure if I have enough of the right words to let you know how special she was, how hard she fought, and how much we all miss her. We want to thank her foster mom for giving her the best of everything, for all of you who donated towards her care, commented on her posts, or thought of her during her treatment. These dogs. So very special to us all.

Hi all, I wanted to post an update on several of our dogs, and apologize for the lack of updates. I think everyone knows, there's just a lot going on in our daily lives and the overwhelm is striking us all in different ways. Myself, I want to curl up with my dogs and doom scroll. Anywho..

Update on our spicy blue girl Leia, who is fighting cancer and is still living her best life. Her latest treatment has been adjusted to just once every three weeks. Her last appointment was a bit over 900. She hasn't slowed down and still has the same quality of life as before, and that is why we continue! It's all about quality of life.

Nova and Freya are doing very well. Soon both will be visiting the vet to continue getting ready for adoption. Both need spay.

Update on Freya and Nova! Freya is starting to show down on feeding, and Nova has started eating food! She is growing and has been protecting her side eye 🤣. Thank you to those that ordered from their wishlist! The supplies are really helpful!

Adoption announcement! 😁

Nervous Nellie was apparently a stray and found herself turned into the shelter by her finder. She reports in to tell us that she has a plum life now! She loves to take hikes and road trips with her sister, Plain Jane the McNab. Here they are on an Oregon trip.

So many great names everyone suggested! Introducing, Freya and Nova! They are both doing great, and I think that Nova has doubled in size 😳! No competition at the milk bar ☺️

Don't you just want to scoop them up and snuggle them?! They are so ADORABLE! We are so happy to pair up with to help this little family.

Little momma is only 16 #, so she is a tiny one.

In colab with , this sweet little family got their freedom Ride from Lancaster today! They are both resting in foster tonight and we will post more about them very soon. Momma and one potato puppy 😍

This we want to update you on our sweet and spicy Leia. She has just finished this round of treatments after having an echo to make sure the meds aren't affecting her heart. All good news! We are close to the finish line with her treatments. Thank you for continuing to help us make a difference in each of our dogs lives!

Leia is at the cancer care center getting ready for her 4th treatment. She is doing great and every time her blood work improves. So far, she has not had a decrease in energy or appetite. If you can help with any amount, or share, thank you. As long as we have the support of the community, and it makes sense for Leia, we will keep fighting!

A thin guy with swollen and painful paws, Gordon was red listed at San Jacinto shelter. Pictures of him show him smiling despite it all, hoping to be noticed.

Now named Cool Eddie, he is affectionately known as a wooly mammoth given his now luxurious coat. He loves his friends at the beach and enjoys glamping with his person. Cool Eddie is another rags to riches story. Have the most magical of lives good boy ❤️🥰
