Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology - Mon/Yough Chapter 3

Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology - Mon/Yough Chapter 3 The Mon/Yough Chapter of the SPA is committed to unearthing the history of Western PA. We conduct archaeological digs throughout the local area.

The Chapter was re-chartered in 2009 so that interested persons could meet to discuss and participate in local archaeology. It was named for the two major rivers in the region that played major roles in prehistoric and historic life – the Monongahela and the Youghiogheny. The Mon/Yough Chapter of the SPA is committed to unearthing the fascinating history of Western Pennsylvania. We conduct archaeo

logical digs throughout the area and educate the public about our history. We have also had Boy and Girl Scout informational lectures and allowed them to volunteer at our dig sites. We are involved in current community events to keep the spirit of this great area alive. We also work with California University and West Virginia University students to get hands on experience with their degrees. Our organization operates strictly on a volunteer basis. We encourage the public to join our association.
