The mission of the Foundation 4 Heroes is to reinforce a path for a positive future by promoting the superhero inside every child.

Foundation 4 Heroes is a 501c.3 nonprofit organization that dresses as superheroes and other popular characters to inspire children in hospitals, talks to school-aged children about being a hero and honors Veterans for their service. We recognize and embrace our responsibilities as role models and will inspire and teach children to: (1) always do the right thing, (2) to never give up, (3) listen t

o your parents, (4) make healthy choices and (5) never be a bully (by being kind and respectful to others). We also visit with and thank Veterans, Wounded Warriors, and their families, for their courage, service and sacrifice.

Over the last few weeks and months, more than 10 hospitals in 5 states (MD, OH, NY, VA, NC) have received action figures, books, and games in gift boxes. The local Charlotte Hall Veterans' Home received a care package. We purchased 50 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to donate to our troops, made a $300 donation to Healing - Empowering Veterans Through Scuba to support the therapeutic healing of our nation's heroes, and Batman visited a school, bringing almost 100 books to teach the children to "Be A Hero!" And, we are donating comic and superhero character blankets and 100 books in English and Spanish to our friends here in Southern Maryland, who have a chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

This week, we sent gifts for patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC and Atrium Health Children’s Hospital in NC. However, it’s great to see the reaction and hear about the joy some gifts brought a local boy, who suffered a sledding accident this past weekend. Obviously, he’s a huge fan. Heal fast buddy. On this blustery day, the Foundation 4 Heroes team went to the Annual Christmas Party at the USO to honor, thank, and mingle with our country's greatest heroes and their families. This event brings together many local businesses to show their appreciation to members of all branches of the military during the holiday season. Even Santa finds time to visit, so you know it's the real deal.

Thank you, Dawn Doe, Joey Tatertot, John Young, Brian Thomas, and his daughter, for making the party extra special.

Last night, we were relocating the Hero Hummer to a secure location for a group deployment at 0700 hours to support the Annual Veterans' Day Parade in Leonardtown. Unfortunately, we suffered a debilitating injury of an exploded brake line. Thankfully, Superman was at the helm and guided the beast to a safe stop. Currently, the wonderful folks at PJ's Towing, and mechanic extraordinaire, Timmy Smith, have taken the Hummer to their secret bunker for some triage and recovery. With that said, Happy 250th Birthday to the U.S. Marine Corps, and thank you to all the Veterans who have served, or are serving, or have made the ultimate sacrifice so we may continue to enjoy the freedoms and liberties we have. Besides sending hundreds of gifts and books to Children's Hospital, Inova Children's, Ann Arundel Medical Center, Oishei Children's, and St. Jude's Hospital, the ladies and youth of Foundation 4 Heroes attended the Calvert County Parks and Recreation annual Superhero Sunday. Looking good, heroes!
