We heard it’s National Dog Day and our adoptable dogs wanted to say “Hi!! Don’t forget about us when considering adopting your next bff!” ❤️ We are all 100% good girls and boy, fully vetted, and free to the right home.
(Not pictured is Coal also available for adoption - he is getting picked up today from his neuter yesterday!)

These pups were posing so pretty for a chicken foot from our friends at M + J’s Snack Shack that “mom” picked up today after attending the annual MSECC Campaign at the Truman Building! I met a lot of super great people and I hope some of them have found us here and will choose us when deciding which charities to donate to next year!

💙COAL💙

Coal was found a few weeks ago off of KK Hwy in rural California, MO.
He was super skinny and had an open wound on his leg, but such a friendly and handsome boy! Some kind people let him crash at their place and posted him to see if he had anyone looking for him. No one has come forward and he wasn’t microchipped.

Coal is estimated to be around 1 year old. We believe he is a lab mix breed.
He acts like a young pup and loves to run, play, jump and be right with his person or people. He likes other dogs and wants to follow the resident dog around. He has only had a few run ins with the resident cat and seems to not care about her presence. He is working on kennel and potty training and doing well so far, but he will require time, patience, and training to master these in a new home. He is such a happy dog and loves pets and attention. He does great in the car and well on the leash, but does pull a little still.

He’s had his vaccines, de wormer, and prevention meds and after 8/25 he will be neutered and ready to find his forever home. His wound is nearly healed up.
He is growing already and will be a large dog.

370 days….that is how long Mary Puppins has been with us. 370 days of saying yes to her means saying no to other dogs in need.
She is officially our longest Mission Monipaw resident.
She’s been here so long we had to take her to the vet for her annual vet visit.
She had a negative heartworm test, got all her vaccines updated, and was a good girl so of course she got a pup cup afterwords.

She has gained a lot of weight, so once the lettuce stops giving people the craps, we may have to change her diet to rabbit food, but overall she’s happy and healthy! She is hard of hearing, but she truly doesn’t let that stop her. She is estimated 4ish years old and is suspected to be a Sharpei mixed breed.
She’s mostly potty trained, very high energy, decent on leash and is waiting for someone to choose her, so that we can continue to say yes to dogs in the community that need us.
Older kids would be best for Mary and no cats. She will need a special person or family, but that could be you!

These next few months means all 3 dogs, at our home residing in the only kennels we have, will be with us for over a year. They are all incredible loving dogs. Believe me, they wouldn’t have lasted in our circus if they had any major issues. Fosters are nearly impossible to find, we haven’t had an adult dog adopted in 6 months unless you count the one the finders ended up keeping because we couldn’t find him a home.
I’m at a total loss. The bills are piling up as we continue to outreach in the community as we are able and we need committed fosters and adopters now more than ever.
Please consider our dogs who have waited so long for someone to give them a chance.
Happy one year in rescue, Mary. We won’t give up on you. ❤️‍🩹🐾

❗️COMMUNITY MICROCHIP CLINIC❗️

❓WHAT: a reduced fee microchip clinic for Moniteau County & surrounding resident pets. You get your pet a lifetime enrollment and local DVM inserted AKC registered microchip. Getting the info ahead of time, we will send in your info to register the chip and let you know the microchip number and how to access the portal after your appt.
A quick and painless poke, so your pet can be reunited quickly if lost regardless of tag or collar. (But yes updated tags and collars are essential too!)

⏰ WHEN: Saturday November 7, 2026 8am-12pm noon

📍WHERE: California Veterinary Clinic 1200 N Park Avenue California, MO 65018 (overflow parking available at Explore Store across the road - huge thank you!)

💵 COST: $15/microchipped pet

A generous citizen has donated the cost of 50 California City dog tags that we will give out for FREE at this event ONLY with proof of current rabies. (Proof of rabies can be emailed to us to provide for city records to [email protected])
If your dog needs an updated rabies vaccine this can be added on when you sign up for $37 due to the vet the day of the appt.
This means not only making sure your dog is updated on an important vaccine, but can be quickly reunited via chip scanner or city registration from the tag.

ADOPTED 🎉 & PUPDATES 🐾

Our GSD/Husky three pupskateers found their forever homes and are all settling in nicely with their new fur siblings!

In other exciting news some of our other dogs have been adopted or transferred recently

🖤 Max was officially adopted by his finders since it’s been 3 months with no serious interest and they have accepted that he is home right where he is

💚 Ron & Harry the shy chi brothers unfortunately couldn’t find committed fosters or adopters through us, so we had been looking into transferring them to another rescue. They hitched several rides to Wisconsin this past weekend and are now named Mimic & Echo available for adoption through our amazing friends at Hooves & Paws of my Heart Rescue, so that they can work on learning the world is not such a scary place.

Remember the community help we’ve been doing, well three other small dogs were vetted and transported to the same rescue as the Chihuahua boys so that they can have a chance at a new life. These boys have a long road to recovery and need all your prayers and support that they will learn they are safe and with time come out of their shells. (See pics of Darth, Butters, & Whale now at HPMHR)

Funds are limited and we still have appts for a few of our previously adopted puppies to cover in the next few months.
I still have Mary Puppins, Ruffles, and Fox at my home and Bella the weiner dog looking for their forever homes! We are not able to tag any new dogs until at least one or two of my long timers find their forevers to open up space here in addition to raising more funds to add to our vet account.

Fox had his first ever sleep over weekend in a house and he did FABULOUS!!!
He was initially very nervous as to be expected, but was able to roam and romp with the other dogs, snuggle on the couch, and sleep near sweet humans for likely the first time in his life!

Our friends at M + J’s Snack Shack are amazing for giving him a weekend away to showcase how he may do in his new forever home. They also are giving $50 credit towards their treat store to whoever adopts him AND so are our friends at Smitty’s Pet Sitting!! So whoever is lucky enough to love Fox forever, also gets $100 credit towards some yummy treats for their pups!
Fox has waited almost a year for someone to choose him (or let’s be real, his entire life as he was classified as nothing more than a sh***y hunting dog per his last owner) and he’s got a whole fan club rooting him on now - if you think Fox would be a good addition for your home, please message us!!
Feeling so incredibly blessed by the army of supporters we are surrounded by 🐾❤️

UPDATE: Bella has been transferred to a foster through Pawsitive Tails and will be adoptable soon!

Bella

1 year old dachshund mix female pup. She was 11lbs in March and will be a smaller sized dog.
Bella is kennel trained and lives with other dogs currently. She is too rambunctious for the resident dogs though and so she’s needing a new home.
She is partially potty trained, but accidents are to be expected in a new home while learning her routine.
She is learning the ropes of the leash, but doing good about staying nearby. A safe fenced yard and/or dedication to take Bella out on leash and continue to work on her training are a must!
She is said to be good with kids and cats.
Lots of puppy energy, so be prepared to have time and patience and be ready to commit to Bella for the rest of her life. She’s already been passed around too much for her short life.

Bella has her rabies and distemper parvo vaccines.
She will be going to the vet Wednesday for her spay, heartworm test, and kennel cough vaccine. Then this little cutie will be ready to find her forever!

Meet and greets can be arranged pending her healing from surgery starting next weekend, but please reach out if interested now so we can learn more about your home and if your family is a good fit for Bella! If local we offer overnights and trial periods as well!
Bella’s adoption is free (but we are limited on our funding right now, so any donations towards her needed vet care would be SUPER appreciated) Meet and greet at the potential adopters home is required!

People ask me all the time for small dogs, so don’t let Bella sit in limbo for long here - let’s find her a home!!! 💓🐾

HAPPY FRIYAY FROM RUFFLES!!! ☀️

I told her if she smiles for the camera maybe we can catch the eye of her future family!!! 😁🐾

How can you resist those doggy teefers!?

Looking for a lazy potato chip to relax with? Ruff is your girl! She is potty and kennel trained. Good listener and knows basic commands. Friendly with other dogs with proper intros, but is the queen bee! She would be perfectly content being your one and only.
Kid friendly, but does jump when she’s excited.
Loves all the toys, treats, and attention to herself. Does need some leash work, but fenced yard is not a requirement for her.
She would do perfect in any setting as long as she is with her person!

She is such a good girl waiting for the right person to notice! Her adoption is free, but meet and greet is required at your home to ensure it’s a good fit.
