Emotion Regulation Skill

"See the Big Picture"

When you get overwhelmed by emotions, process these things:

1. What was I thinking and feeling? Learning to name your emotions, expanding your emotional vocabulary beyond happy and mad, helps to right-size your response.
2. What evidence supports my thoughts and feelings, and what evidence contradicts them? W**d out past memories of similar events and future fears of problematic consequences.

These considerations will help you choose healthier, alternative ways to think and feel about events and situations.
