What an incredible experience at the DeafBlind Community of Texas Adult Camp Retreat!

Golden State DeafBlind Service Center (GSDBSC) was honored to have a booth as DBCTX celebrated its 10th anniversary and hosted its first-ever DeafBlind Expo.

The event was packed with energy, connection, and community! We had an amazing time sharing the story of GSDBSC, connecting with DeafBlind individuals and allies, and sharing information about the resources, services, and opportunities we offer.

It was fun to have Elias and Roberto, co-founders of GSDBSC, together at the booth representing the organization and sharing our journey.

Thank you to DeafBlind Community of Texas for creating this incredible space for organizations, leaders, and community members to come together. Congratulations on 10 years of making an impact—and what a way to celebrate!

Here’s to many more years of connection, community, and breaking barriers together.

GSDBSC announcing the raffle winner for DIC5 (National Deaf Interpreters - NDI) attendees

Video Description: The video is presented on the Zoom platform, with two screens displayed side by side. Dana is sitting in an office with dark-colored curtains behind her, while Erick is sitting on a couch in his living room.

Erick: Hello, everyone! I am Erick Gallegos (showing sign name). We are here representing the Golden State DeafBlind Service Center (GSDBSC). During the Deaf Interpreter Conference 5, we held raffle drawings, and this video is to announce our lucky winner! Dana will do the honor of announcing the winning ticket.

Dana: (PT Stomp) Hello, everyone! I am Dana Dehasus, one of the founders of GSDBSC. We collected an incredible number of raffle tickets—thank you all so much for your amazing support of our organization! Now, are you ready to find out who the winner is?!? (PT Stomp)

Dana brings a tall glass filled with all of the raffle tickets. Looking away from both the screen and the glass to keep the drawing fair, Dana reaches into the glass, thoroughly mixes the tickets, and randomly selects one.

Dana: Got it! (showing the ticket to the screen). Give me just a moment while I take a picture of the ticket so I can zoom in and read the small print more easily.

Dana takes a photo of the raffle ticket with her iPhone and reads the winner's name.

Dana: Guess who won the raffle? It's Tricia Samweber! Congratulations! If you know Tricia, please let her know that she is our raffle winner and ask her to reach out to us. I will also send her a text message to request her mailing address so we can send her prize. (showing the prize on the screen). The prize is a $50 Visa gift card. Congratulations, Tricia! (PT Stomp)

Erick: Thank you all for watching! Be sure to visit our website at www.GSDBSC.org and follow us on Facebook for updates and future events. Good night, everyone!

Dana: (PT Stomp) Goodbye!

The video fades to a black screen displaying the message: "Visit us at www.GSDBSC.org and follow us on Facebook."

JOIN US IN PERSON or via ZOOM

At some point in our careers and everyday lives, we, DeafBlind and sighted persons, are connected. Are we ready to work together?

On June 26, four DeafBlind experts will share their lives, their language, and what real access actually looks like in 2026— the kind of knowledge you can't get from a textbook, only from the people who live it.

Come learn. Earn 0.3 PS-PPO CEUs while you're at it.

In person at Sony Pictures Studios, or live on Zoom from anywhere.
