Some artists leave behind a body of work.

Others leave behind a new way of seeing.

Marjane Satrapi belonged to the latter.

Writer, filmmaker, illustrator, and one of the defining visual storytellers of her generation, Satrapi transformed personal memory into a universal artistic language. Through graphic novels, cinema, and illustration, she explored identity, displacement, family, history, and the relationship between private experience and collective memory.
