🖤
The curtain falls on a titan of world cinema.
Bahram Beyzaie (1938–2025) has passed away. A visionary playwright, filmmaker, and scholar, Beyzaie was a thinker who fundamentally reshaped Persian myth, history, and language through his art.
His masterpieces did more than tell stories; they redefined the “female gaze” in Iranian cinema and challenged the roots of national identity. From the stage to the screen, his voice remained a steadfast force of intellectual resistance—uncompromising, poetic, and profound.
Legends do not disappear; they transform into the eternal fabric of our culture. His legacy will continue to guide every artist who seeks truth in the shadows of history.
Rest in Power, Master.

With a heavy heart we bid farewell to Nasser Taghvai (13 July 1941 – 14 Oct 2025), the legendary Iranian director, writer and photographer. Taghvai helped shape Iranian cinema with his masterful storytelling and poetic visuals. Born in Abadan, he began with influential documentaries and went on to create the iconic TV series “My Uncle Napoleon” (1976), which is still one of the most beloved shows in Iran . His debut feature, Tranquility in the Presence of Others (1969), adapted from a story by Gholamhossein Sa’edi, drew international acclaim . He followed with unforgettable films such as Sadeq the Kurdish (1972) and Curse (1973), affirming his critical and humanistic vision . Taghvai’s masterpiece Captain Khorshid (1987) won the Bronze Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival , while later works like Oh Iran (1990) and Unruled Paper (2001) continued to blend social reality with literary poetry .

According to Iran’s House of Cinema and his wife Marzieh Vafamehr, Taghvai passed away in Tehran due to complications from illness . He was 84. His keen eye, literary sensibility and profound empathy have left an enduring legacy . Rest in peace, Maestro. 🎬✨

Mahmoud Farshchian (1930–2025) — the master who reimagined Persian miniature for the modern world — has passed away at 95.
From Isfahan to New York, from sacred shrines to the world’s most prestigious collections, his luminous lines and flowing colors became a universal language of beauty and spirit.
His art remains, timeless and unbound — an eternal invitation to look closer, feel deeper, and remember.
