SOUND UP! Two stallions sparring. These horses do not belong to Lifesavers. They are just visiting. These two actually know each other very well and will be heading to their new sanctuary soon. This was day one of their arrival for temporary quarantine. They have since settled down.

Look how good our sweet boy Sparrow is doing today. Walking all over the ranch like a pro. Can't help but love him!! It won't be long before he's ready to visit the hospital for his special gelding surgery. We are still asking for help for his medical procedure which will cost anywhere from $3000 to $6000. If you can donate please visit our website. www.wildhorserescue.org

Sweet Sparrow is on his way to spend some quality time with Angi Skye Dawn’s Horse Training. I'm feeling a little sad cause I'm going to miss him here at the Sanctuary. But he's going to have lots of fun with Angi and he'll learn so much. Then the next stop will be the vet hospital for his cryptorchid surgery.

Sparrow was rescued by Wild Horse Connection along with 14 other slaughter bound wild horses. Out of the group Lifesavers offered to take him and 3 BLM horses. Because they needed a soft place to land. All named after birds. Blackbird, Starling, Woody, and Sparrow.

The rest will go to another sanctuary. Except for one mare who had a severe and ultimately fatal injury from either the round up or the feedlot. Forever Wild Rozenna. 😢

Sparrow's head is so big his entire body disappeared behind it. 😂 He is leaving on Tuesday to spend some time with Angi Skye Dawn’s Horse Training. Angi is going to prepare him for going to the vet hospital for his cryptorchid surgery. He needs to be really good a leading, tieing, having several people touch him at the same time, and entering small spaces without panic. I think it will take her all of 10 minutes to get him okay with all those things because he's such a pocket pony, not afraid of much, and loves attention. And carrots will also help.

We've been keeping our role in this rescue quiet until now. 15 horses were transported from Nevada to a feedlot in CA meant for a slaughter sale. Other rescue groups heard about them and stepped in to save them. However, they needed a place to be quarantined and vetted until they could be shipped to a sanctuary. Some of the horses were not of the Virginia Range herd and will be staying with Lifesavers. Two of the VR horses came in with serious injuries. The vet was called and horses were treated, unfortunately one did not survive.

We hope that bringing this story to light might keep the next batch of wild horses from being smuggled into California for the sole purpose of being sold for slaughter. And those responsible for it held accountable.

Wild horse advocates are calling for an investigation, alleging that Nevada agriculture officials might have played a part in sending wild horses to a California auction that put them in the pipeli…
