It's absolutely incredible... what just one person can do to make a community stronger and healthier. I want to give a special shout-out to Miss Shelley Doneghue today.
Not so long ago, Shelley lost the most important thing in her life - her 19-year-old son. She responded to the loss by claiming her power to keep on going and make a profound impact in the world around her.
Since, she has drafted plans for community youth center, incorporated a non-profit, begun fundraising, and now we're meeting with development organizations, local businesses, and key leaders to help make her visions for a stronger community a reality.
We also had a successful meeting with Helia Healthcare yesterday for the launch of an Adopt a Grandparent program, whereby young people will explore how big of a difference they can make in our community as well as receive professional references to help advance them in their journeys.
In the few short months I've known Miss Shelley Doneghue, I've been amazed by how she juggles her full-time job, self-less service, and driving the dream of the youth center forward to make a it a reality... and a gift for our entire community.
Applause, Miss Doneghue. Keep the love light and a blazin' - you are in inspiration... and the train is bound for glory!!!!!
