September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month.

The Gordon County Child Advocacy Center & Sexual Assault Center recognizes this month by reminding our community that you are not alone, and help is available.

Please join us in welcoming our Victim Services - Advocacy Intern, Brandolyn Alred! We are thrilled to have Brandolyn joining our team while she pursues her Masters in Social Work from The University of Kentucky.

Brandolyn will be working closely with our advocates to gain hands-on experience with assisting families during hard times. She will also assist with planning our monthly teen outreach group, MDT, and Fall into Wellness event.

When asked what she is most excited about during her internship, Brandolyn shared that she is looking forward learning advocacy skills that can better help assist victims and their families. She is excited for the growth opportunities.

In her free time, Brandolyn likes to read, hiking, spend time with her dog Toby, and spend time with her family. We are so excited to have her on our team. Welcome, Brandolyn!

Please join us in welcoming our Victim Services - Community Outreach Intern, Constance Lockridge! We are thrilled to have Constance joining our team.

Constance will be working closely with our outreach team to gain hands-on experience in becoming involved with the community and continue to help educate our community. She will also assist with planning our monthly teen outreach group.

When asked what she is most excited about during her internship, Constance shared that she is looking forward to using her creative skills to help the GCCAC/SAC staff in helping to bring awareness and happiness through her art and photography. She is excited for the growth opportunities and new people she will be meeting during her internship.

In her free time, Constance likes to paint, photography, and crafting. We are so excited to have her on our team. Welcome, Constance!

Please join us in welcoming back our Victim Services - Advocacy Intern, Anahi Melchor! We are thrilled to have Anahi joining our team while she pursues her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Dalton State.

Anahi will be working closely with our advocates to gain hands-on experience with the types of cases we serve as they move through the system. She will also assist with planning our monthly teen outreach group.

When asked what she is most excited about during her internship, Anahi shared that she is looking forward to gaining knowledge and experience. She hopes to learn new skills that would help her handle delicate situations.

Girls Group is a monthly outreach group for the girls who have come through our center. Its goal is to teach them coping mechanisms, show that they are not alone, and teach them self-empowerment.

We are pleased to recognize Caricia for successfully completing the week-long Advanced ChildFirst training.

During the program, she participated in rigorous instruction, answered challenging questions, and performed mock testimony exercises designed to strengthen her forensic interviewing skills and prepare her for courtroom testimony.

Advanced ChildFirst is a nationally recognized, five-day forensic interview training program. The program is designed to enhance the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to conduct effective, child-centered forensic interviews.

On-Call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E) Adult & Pediatric | Gordon County CAC/SAC (GA)

Your Nursing Skills Can Make a Difference When It Matters Most. We are seeking compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses to join our team as on-call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), providing specialized forensic nursing care to both adults and pediatric patients. SANE nurses play a critical role in caring for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments.

This is an excellent opportunity for nurses interested in forensic nursing, trauma-informed care, sexual assault response, child abuse response, pediatric care, emergency nursing, and community-based patient advocacy.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners provide critical medical care during some of the most vulnerable moments in a patient’s life. This role allows nurses to combine clinical assessment, advocacy, forensics, and compassionate patient care while serving an important need within the community.
