IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE CALEXICO BAJA RUNNERS:
The Calexico Baja Runners was founded in the early 1980’s by a group of men, primarily René and Arnold Brown with support from Alex Brown, who had a love for the outdoors and the races down in Baja. The Baja Runner is formed by members who work or have worked in Law Enforcement, education, veterans and government and some have their own businesses.
The Baja Runner have dedicated themselves to helping out the local community and youth who are involved in sport activities. The Baja Runners have fundraisers thru out the year to raise funds to support families, athlete and students by giving scholarship to help promote higher education.
Other events that the Baja Runners have great pride in hosting and we always encourage the community to participate are Memorial Day and Veterans day, we go out a week before to clean all the veterans graves sites and will follow it with having a ceremony honoring all veterans on those days
This year we have been placing a majority of our focus on the restoration of the Veterans Memorial at Rockwood Park in Calexico, where it has been vandalized by over 200 bronze plaques of local heroes being removed.
In 2011 The Baja Runners became a certified 501 C-3 Non Profit organization.
Our primary focus is on helping our community through scholarship and other initiative.
As a 501 C-3 this prohibits the Baja Runners from endorsing political candidates. To make it clear, the Calexico Baja Runners have not endorsed any candidates during this election cycle.
