Balance bikes needed!
is on the brink of incredible times with the impact that we have accomplished! 50 balance bikes impacting over 300 children in 5 short months!
Let me repeat that louder! 50 BALANCE BIKES DONATED – OVER 300 CHILDREN IMPACTED!!!
But we do not have enough funds to fulfill our mission. Grant writing is in process but we need to place balance bikes in local centers and collect the data to validate our mission. Please help us!
This is a 3 step approach to serve those that may have never know a balance bike exists!
Target audience
1) Head Start/ low-income day care centers
2) Children with disabilities
3) Children in foster care
Steps for program implementation
1) Identify children in the focused areas that meet our audience listed above
2) Educate caregivers on the proper use of a balance bike, provide guidelines, tools for maintenance, and resources to further enhance the experience of the balance bike
3) Schedule program donations
4) Spend time with the caregivers and the children to ensure proper technique/use of balance bike
5) Follow up with schedule visits/calls to collect the data on the use of the balance bike and how the balance bike has impacted the children through increased coordination, improved self-confidence, and general improvement in gross and fine motor skills
The month of May and early June, we have focused our efforts on children with disabilities. We donated 4 balance bikes to the Specialized Skills Unit at Liberty Elementary school (Instagram link below) and the excitement in the eyes of the children while working with them was heart touching. One teacher even asked where we were able to find a 20 inch balance bike for older children with disabilities. She wants one for her son who has autism! We are introducing a new tool to the physical therapy programs assisting these children and it is so exciting! Again, we need funding to help propel this program.

Just a quick update on my sons and their dirt bike adventures. Loretta Lynn’s is the most coveted race in the US and it is a monumental task to just qualify to go there. But at this point in their lives and ours, we have decided to focus on Wheelz 4 Kidz! The boys help put the bikes together, they come with me to donate, and they have an amazing ability to work with children with disabilities! That is where we will concentrate. Loretta’s will be there later, that we know. So good luck to all that are racing! We will be watching!
