In my role as an officer with The Salvation Army, I am fortunate to be a part of some extraordinary events. Today is a prime example. The Salvation Army in Caldwell has a new Senior Soldier, Aiden Manzanares!

A donut is more than a treat. It is a symbol of service.

This National Donut Day, The Salvation Army Cascade Division Portland Metro is taking the tradition of the Donut Lassies back into the community.

Our Emergency Disaster Services canteen will be making stops around town, to hand out free donuts in honor of those who serve our community every day.

More than 100 years ago, Salvation Army Donut Lassies brought comfort, encouragement, and a taste of home to soldiers serving on the front lines of World War I. Today, that same spirit of care continues through disaster response, food assistance, shelter services, youth programs, and support for neighbors in need.

If you see our Emergency Disaster Services canteen out and about, stop by, say hello, and enjoy a free donut while supplies last.

Join us as we celebrate a tradition rooted in compassion, service, and hope.

For more than 150 years, The Salvation Army has been meeting human needs with compassion, practical support, and the love of God. โค๏ธ

From the streets of East London to communities around the world, the mission has remained the same: to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs without discrimination.

As we celebrate National Salvation Army Week, we are grateful for the generations of officers, employees, volunteers, donors, and community partners who have helped continue this legacy of service.
