The CORBA Crew showed up strong for National Trails Day, tackling one of the roughest sections of Coyote Trail head-on. The team went to work repairing a deep one-foot rut cutting right down the middle of the trail, restoring a safer and smoother line for users.
Alongside a few dedicated volunteers and our regulars Livia Szoke and Dan Higgins—who are noticeably getting stronger and more skilled every time they’re out—the crew made a real impact. Their effort and commitment were key to getting the job done right.
At Paramount Ranch, restoration work is nearly complete, and the momentum is building to bring these trails back to their best condition yet.Siempre Adelante Juan Carlo

We were back out on Two Foxes Trail with hedge trimmers and w**d whips in hand, working to get the trail back into good riding condition. The crew spent the day cutting back overgrown bushes and thick mustard that had started creeping into the trail corridor, while also improving the sight lines to make the ride safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Big thanks to Livia Szokel, Dan Higgins and Larry Marino for all their hard work out on the trail.

Now that the rain has passed and Wood Canyon Vista is complete, it’s time to turn our attention to the next stretch of trail—brushing Sin Nombre Trail and the connector at Point Mugu State Park. Each pass makes a difference, keeping these routes rideable, safe, and alive for everyone who uses them.
A big thanks to Dan Higgins for always showing up and stepping in wherever the trail needs it most. That kind of steady commitment is what keeps our work moving forward.
As Mountain Bike Unit members, we’re not just maintaining trails—we’re helping preserve the experience, one section at a time.

The USFS is planning to rescind the Roadless Area Conservation Rule that protects the landscapes through which some of our favorite trails pass: Strawberry Peak, Colby Canyon, and the Gabrielino National Recreation Trail. The rule is good for water, wildlife, and recreation. It protects nearly 60 million acres of Forest Service land from extractive use or development nationally. It has overwhelming public support, with more than 99% of comments expressing support for keeping the Roadless rule in place when the change was announced last year.

We don't expect the Forest Service to host any public meetings about the Roadless Rule rescission, so we've joined a coalition of Forest stakeholders to host our own. Comments will be recorded at the event for submission when the official comment period opens (Date TBD).

Join us for an informal Roadless Rule Town Hall meeting in Duarte, May 18th from 3:30pm - 6:30pm.

We are back at Sin Nombre, pruning brush and opening up sight lines. A big thank-you to Livia and Chris for making it happen. We completed about a quarter mile, and our goal is to brush the entire trail, including Two Foxes.

We're thrilled to see the SCV Trail Users - Safe & Equal Access To SCV Trails and the City of Santa Clarita Government working hand-in-hand to bring this first-of-its-kind bike park to our region! Huge thanks to the committee for over a decade of relationship-building — and trail-building — with the City to make this possible.

This project is a change from our usual advocacy work and a very different experience compared to Sapwi Bike Park. In many ways, they’re at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Sapwi Bike Park has been an all-volunteer grassroots effort — advocating, fundraising, building, and maintaining what’s now a true community treasure.

The new Haskell Canyon Bike Park represents a direct investment by the City of Santa Clarita in its cycling community, developed in partnership with local riders.

Both models are equally valuable, and both deliver meaningful, lasting benefits to the community.

I'm excited to see riders of all levels at Sapwi, and will be equally excited to see people enjoying Haskell Canyon Bike Park trails soon!

The Haskell Canyon Bike Park includes over 15 miles of cross-country, climbing and downhill trails for bikers of all skill sets. For video licensing inquirie...
