MOUNDS, Ill. — The Alexander/Pulaski Counties NAACP will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Monday, January 19, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m. The event will be held at the Meridian High School gymnasium, located at 1401 Mounds Road, Mounds, IL 62964.
This annual gathering brings together community members, leaders, and youth to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality. Brown serves as the Director of the School of Africana and Multicultural Studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and is widely respected for his scholarship, ministry, and lifelong commitment to cultural understanding and social justice. His message is expected to offer both historical insight and timely inspiration.
