๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’ FRIDAY FIRE SAFETY MESSAGE ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

As temperatures rise and summer activities ramp up, the risk of outdoor fires increases across our community. Whether youโ€™re grilling with family, enjoying a backyard fire pit, or heading out for a weekend adventure, taking a few simple precautions can make all the difference.

๐Ÿ” Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and overhanging branches.

๐Ÿชต Build campfires and fire pits at least 25 feet away from structures and dry vegetation, and never leave them unattended.

๐Ÿš— Avoid parking hot vehicles in tall, dry grass and make sure trailer chains are secured to prevent sparks.

A few extra minutes of caution can prevent a devastating fire and help keep our neighborhoods safe.

The members of the Cahokia Heights Fire Department wish everyone a safe, enjoyable, and fire-safe weekend!

๐Ÿ’š Wednesday Wellness โ€“ PTSD Awareness Month ๐Ÿ’š

June is PTSD Awareness Month

Behind every siren, every emergency call, and every act of service is a firefighter who experiences the same emotions and challenges as everyone else.

Firefighters are regularly exposed to traumatic incidents, serious injuries, loss of life, and high-stress situations. While we train to handle emergencies, the emotional impact of those experiences can stay with us long after the call is over.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is real, and seeking help is a sign of strengthโ€”not weakness.

As firefighters, we pride ourselves on taking care of others. This month, letโ€™s also remember to take care of ourselves and our fellow brothers and sisters in the fire service.

โœ… Check in on your crew
โœ… Talk about what youโ€™re feeling
โœ… Utilize peer support resources
โœ… Seek professional help when needed
โœ… Remember that no one fights their battles alone

If youโ€™re struggling, reach out. Your department, your family, and your community need you.

Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health in the fire service.
