WWF State Recap
Over the last three days our Cadott youth wrestlers have been busy competing at the WWF Kids Folkstyle State Championships in Madison. There was lots of excitement, with record numbers of competitors. The fact that 24 athletes were able to qualify, which is the 3rd most in the last 20 years, says a lot about the work this group has put in.
As a team, we were competitive and finished with an overall record of 36-45, with 7 wrestlers competing at State for their very first time. Our kids showed great sportsmanship, battled and stayed in matches, and gained valuable experience.
We had a handful of wrestlers reach the podium:
Ryder Yeager-3rd Place Going 5-1 on the day losing a tough 2-1 battle to the eventual state champ.
Nehemiah Yeager-5th Place His first trip to state was a great learning opportunity.
Eden Kvapil-5th Place Back on the podium for the second consecutive year.
Kamren Schuebel-6th Place Adding to his already notable youth career, with another season left!
Nicole Schmude-6th Place A new wrestler who was willing to give her best each match, great work!
Thank you to all of those who attended. This weekend reiterated what makes programs special. Parents who show up, kids who support each other, and a community that continues to grow. A quick shoutout to Freshman Jacob Phelps for stepping up and obtaining his coaching card so he could help his younger teammates. It meant a lot to all of the wrestlers and is the sort of thing that builds a program across all levels.
We are proud of the way everyone represented Cadott!
