In between rain showers this morning, members of Cabot Trails were busy on the Old Town Center Trail. Colorful Bluebird nesting boxes where placed along the trail. We are so grateful to the numerous people who helped in the making of the nesting boxes last month to enhance the experience of the trail.
With the warmer weather, poetry was again placed on the trail. And, a rotted plank on the bridge was replaced.
We do hope to see you out enjoying the trails soon.

Lots of smiles building Bluebird nesting boxes yesterday. We had a wonderful time and now have 20 nesting boxes to put along the trails. A huge thanks to all that came out to help us enhance the experience of the trails.
We are grateful for the partnership with Cabot Public Library for helping make this event fun and rewarding for all the volunteers. And, Larrabee's Building Supply provided all the lumber needed to build the nesting boxes.
We'll be putting the nesting boxes out on the trails soon.

It seems like returning Bluebirds are months away, but Cabot Trails wants to have nesting boxes along some trails for them when they do arrive. Please, come join us and the Cabot Library, and help make nesting boxes to put on the trails this Spring.

The Cabot Trails Committee is pleased to be working in partnership with the Cabot Library to offer a fun workshop to build Bluebird nesting boxes. Nesting boxes will be placed along Cabot Trails. Birding while exploring the trails can be a rewarding activity and having nesting boxes will enhance the fun. Please, come on down to the Cabot Library and build a Bluebird nesting box to help enhance the Cabot Trails experience.
We are grateful to Larrabee's Building Supply for donating the lumber to build the nesting boxes.

The weather was perfect. The moonlight was perfect. A perfect event to get out and enjoy the trails, see friends and neighbors, and meet some new people. Thank you all that came out to enjoy the Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe the other night. Cabot Trails is quite pleased that you made this event a success. Truly.
Cabot Trails is thankful for all volunteers that helped ready the trails. Nate Curshmann of Dead Eye Works was able to get equipment on the trails to pack/level/groom the trails for us. We are grateful to Michael of Cabot Village Store for suppling goodies for all to enjoy. And, this event would not have been possible without the generosity of Cheryl McQueeney and The Trautz Family for opening their properties for us to enjoy.

The Cabot Trails Committee has vacancies, and we would love to see interest from community members in volunteering to be part of overseeing our 15-mile trail network.

Cabot Trails is proud to offer a place for people and families to spend time together – hiking, biking, birdwatching, skiing and other non-motorized activities – creating memories and promoting a love of the outdoors.

Trails Committee members are appointed to 3-year terms by the Cabot Selectboard, and appointments will occur in March after Town Meeting Day. We meet monthly and often spend time throughout the year in the field improving, maintaining, clearing and repairing damage from severe weather events. We are looking for folks that will be actively involved in field work and planning efforts at monthly meetings. We are currently meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month in the early evening.

Currently the committee maintains six separate trails (Burtt's, McQueeney, Old Town Center, Talbert Farm, Town Forest and Winter Trails) located throughout the town. To see a list of trail descriptions and maps visit https://cabotvermont.org/trails/

We certainly hope you can join us, friends, and neighbors tomorrow evening. The Cabot Trails Committee is having a Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe event Saturday, February 28 starting at 5 pm on McQueeney Trails. Most of this very moderate 3.6-mile marked trail network will be packed and in great shape for use anytime that day. We will have hot cocoa, snacks and marshmallows for roasting on a campfire. Access the trails from either McQueeney Rd or Cabot Plains Rd.
If you want to try snowshoeing, but don’t have equipment, The Cabot Library has 6 pairs of snowshoes of varies sizes that can be checked out.
We are grateful to Cheryl McQueeney and the Trautz family for opening their property for us to enjoy. We are also thankful for Michael from the Cabot Village Store for donating hot chocolate and marshmallows for this event.
Maps of McQueeney Trails can be found at https://cabotvermont.org/trails/ +info.
