Well, Kookie gave away a LOT of costumes Saturday!
Thanks to The Peak Center of Cabot and numerous supporters, around 325 Cabot-area kids have free costumes to celebrate spooky season this year.
Sheila and Darla worked alongside us all day and barely stopped moving, helping families find costumes and keeping everything going. Darla’s daughters and friends volunteered and were wonderful, too. And David, who is much more comfortable in the woods than a community event, packed treat bags with costumes with me like he’d been doing it for years.
I think my favorite part was simply how nice everyone was. People were thankful, patient and kind, and it really felt like community helping community.
Thank you to everyone who donated costumes, volunteered, shared our posts or helped spread the word. You made this happen!
The Peak Center will continue accepting costume donations before and after Halloween, so when spooky season is over, please consider bringing yours back for another child to enjoy next year. Your donations are what make days like this possible!
Kookie say... Every costume deserves another Halloween. 🎃
Just a few specific thank you's before I move onto Halloween night drive-thru trick or treat prep... David Blackburn for supporting and believing in me like no one ever has. Roberta Vecchio Calhoun for promoting the event and always helping and hoping for the best. Peterson for being the sweetest neighbor who never fails to help me on my crazy community stuff. Jenny Gobble for channeling costume donations and brainstorming. Rhea Lana's of Conway and Little Rock and Rhea Lana's Of Searcy for being so kind to donate tons of costumes. RaceWorld USA Signs And Graphics for giving us an unbeatable deal on signage. Pea Farm Bistro for promoting our event and collecting costumes every year. The City Of Cabot for allowing The Peak Center of Cabot to host the event and for hiring two of the most selfless and kind people in the city - Sheila Sims and Darla Jones. And my family who are so sweet in dealing with me all year obsessing over this. Thank you, everyone ❤
