Stacks Squares Mural Project Rotating art exhibit beneath the Stacks in Cabbagetown, on the corner of Carroll Street & Tennelle. Proposal drafts are highly suggested.

This is a new mural initiative for the Cabbagetown neighborhood, specifically the 10 7 x 7 squares on the back entrance of the Cotton Factory Lofts. 10 artists will be selected to paint murals on these squares and a new round of artists will be chosen to paint 90 days later. The goal of this project is to involve neighborhood artists, creating stronger bonds between between the diverse City of Atlanta neighborhoods of Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, and Old 4th Ward. We are currently working on paint donations, and stipends but since this is the first Round of this mural initiative, stipends and artist fees will be more feasible for the 2nd Round. We will also be creating a website after the first round to promote the event and the artists involved. Applicants must send images of sample work upon completion of their applications to be considered. Application can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdm7gjND6NXjhD4gsWlqraeRtgigeM0Ec8upUrY2Dm5hCexOQ/viewform

This week artist highlight is

Jasmine Cato is a self taught, multidisciplinary artist creating intricate designs since 2018. The origination of her style came from a desire to promote peace of mind while practicing unwavering focus and discipline. Originally from New York City, Cato found solace in visual arts, but her passion for it was unrealized until moving to Georgia in 2011. Since then she has focused on cultivating a unique style and selling to private collectors.

Thank You Jasmine for your riveting mural contribution to Stacks Squares Round no. 15!

This week we would like to highlight

Richard Wilson, an Atlanta native, creates art that reflects the vibrant culture of his hometown and the nostalgia of his formative years. An 80s baby influenced by the bold colors and dynamic lines of old cartoons and video games. He uses drawing as a therapeutic outlet to navigate his emotions and experiences.

In his mural, he highlights the complexity of life’s journey through unique pathways. Some paths are straight, while others twist and turn, reflecting the unexpected challenges we face, lessons learned and experience gained that shapes us into the individuals that we are.

Thank you Richard for your explosive contribution to Stacks Squares Round no. 15!
