Camp Vinson Valley has a new Camp Office Phone number, 478.550.9721. This line operates only during the Camp Season and provides registration help and emergency contact for parents of attending Campers. Written notice will also be available upon drop-off of your camper at our registration desk. Please notify all authorized persons for pick-up of your camper(s) of the change.

All contact information for the Byron UMC Church Office remains the same.

UPDATE: Registration spots available are now limited to Week 6 (July 5-8). All applications for other weeks will be offered a spot on our waiting-list.

An update on registration:

Unfortunately there are only spaces remaining for Week 1 and Week 6 of Camp this summer. As of this afternoon, we are full for all other weeks. We do have spaces available on our waiting-list for each week, which requires submitting an application to our church office. Thank you for understanding.

An update concerning the End-of-Camp Cookout:

We have decided to postpone until a later date in the fall when hopefully we will find cooler weather and lower local case numbers. I am so thankful for the summer we had together and cannot wait to celebrate in person! I have shared our full update below.

After extensive prayer and consideration, we have decided to once again postpone the End-of-Camp Cookout previously rescheduled for this coming Sunday, September 19th. While this is certainly not what we were hoping for, we want to make the best decision possible to keep everyone safe and healthy as we walk through this school semester. Our hope is to reschedule once we get a little cooler weather and invite everyone out for an afternoon of food and fun out at Camp this fall.

I am still so thankful we were blessed with a complete and successful summer. Looking back through pictures reminds me just how special it was to be back out at Camp with your campers. I hope to share a little Camp video with you soon as a way of putting our summer on display. Your families are in all our prayers here at Byron UMC and we cannot wait to celebrate with you in person!

Celebrate back to school with a blessing of the backpacks tomorrow at 11am at Byron United Methodist! Students of all ages are invited to come with their backpacks to be prayed over to have a safe and wonderful school year. See you there!

Out of an abundance of caution concerning the rising spread of COVID-19 we have decided to postpone our End-of-Camp Cookout previously scheduled for this Sunday, August 1. Leadership at Byron United Methodist Church and myself have of course been watching things very closely over the past few weeks and feel it best to forgo the sharing of a meal and program together. We were blessed with a tremendous summer out at Camp, and I personally mourn the missed opportunity to tell parents and members of the community how much a summer at Vinson Valley means to our church and all of our Camp Staff. The pandemic and its ongoing effects have disrupted so much of our lives, and it pains me to see those effects continue. But to have given over 200 different campers a few weeks of normalcy was truly an honor and a blessing and something we hope to celebrate together very soon. We hope you put our makeup date of September 19 on your calendar so that we can celebrate together. It is a privilege to have shared a summer with your campers. Together we made memories that I believe will truly last a lifetime. While this is certainly not the note we hoped to end on, we recognize the need for caution before your children start a new school year.

Our staff are already working on plans for summer of 2022, and we cannot wait to see what God has in store for us. Thank you again for the pleasure of sharing a summer with your children. We saw professions of faith, tremendous expressions of grace and gratitude, and made many new friends. We want to see that growth continue, and hope you bring them back for another summer next year! Parents, you can expect information posted here in the coming days about ways we hope to stay in touch this fall, as well as ministry opportunities for your children here at Byron United Methodist Church. In the meantime, we hope that you and your families are safe and excitedly preparing for another school year. We hope to see you soon!
