The Skylands District Awards Dinner was held on Wednesday this week. The dinner always focuses on the many adult volunteers who give their time to scouting but also recognizes a few outstanding scouts. Troop 276 was in the spotlight with a number of awards:
* Life Scout Jeffrey Allen received the "Scout of the Year" award for his many achievements and contributions in scouting in addition to an outstanding school record both academically and in his extracurricular activities.
* SM Josh Rubenstein was recognized for completing the prestigious Woodbadge Award following two weekends of training and completion of additional self-imposed tasks to help scouting. He also was the recipient of a "Skylands Superstar" award for the outstanding job he has done formerly as an ASM and as SM since stepping into that role last summer. He's also a 2019 Eagle Scout from T276.
* ASM Russ Raffay received a Skylands Superstar award for his years of service to T276 and especially for the work he has done in the past couple of years as an Eagle mentor and mentor for SM Rubenstein (ASM Raffay is a former T276 SM). Unfortunately he couldn't be present to receive his award.
* Committee Chair Joe Novak received the "Troop Committee Chair of the Year" award for his work in the double role as Chairperson for the last five years plus 8 years as Advancement Chair. This is his second extended role in both jobs going back to the 1990's.
Here are several pictures from the dinner. We are so proud of our troop!

Update from Beaver Weekend at Camp Minsi:

Saturday, May 16th…
Troop 276 woke up early and made breakfast at their campsite. After cleanup they welcomed two other troop members who arrived this morning. Everyone gathered and went to work to put up all the tents and cots for the season. They also were involved in other trail and site improvements earning themselves a well-deserved lunch and siesta to recharge for the rest of the day's shenanigans.

Our Troop has landed at their home away from home this weekend. It’s Beaver Weekend at Camp Minsi!!!

For those who don’t know… Camp Minsi’s annual Beaver Weekend is a great opportunity for service, fellowship, and outdoor fun!!! This weekend camping trip has been a favorite for many years and allows our troop to participate in open programs, and give back to Scouting through friendly service.

Camp Minsi is where the boys spend their week at summer camp so they gladly participate along with other troops in a “Helpful” way!!!

Troop 276 is proud to continue its tradition of conducting the post Hudson Hike trail sweep, making sure all trail markers and trash are collected after everyone is done with the hike for the day. It is a volunteer task they undertake with great honor each year. Thank you Sharon for your trust and continued support of our troop.
