WE’RE BACK WITH MACRO MONDAYS! 🪱 Meet Class Oligochaeta - our aquatic worm indicators! These fascinating creatures have evolved some remarkable adaptations. Did you know they can absorb oxygen through their entire body surface? Also, unlike many stream critters, these worms don’t undergo metamorphosis - baby worms just look like tiny versions of adults!
Want to learn to identify aquatic worms and other macroinvertebrates yourself? In celebration of Guilford Creek Week, our next River Watch Training takes place at Northeast Park in Gibsonville on Saturday, June 6 from 10 AM to 12 PM. New teams are welcome and a refresher session is available for existing volunteers. 💙
