Air Force and as such is a valued member of its Total Force. In its auxiliary role, CAP operates a fleet of 560 single-engine aircraft and 1,944 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS). inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 82 lives annually. CAP’s 60,000 members also perform homeland security,

disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Operating as a nonprofit organization, CAP also plays a leading role in STEM/aerospace education, and its members serve as mentors to about 25,000 young people participating in CAP’s Cadet Programs. Congratulations to our National Radar Analysis Team, which has supported nearly 1,000 missions, resulting in 581 finds and 93 saves during its 15 years of operation. Its rapid response and advanced data analysis have improved CAP's emergency services by generating accurate information within a few minutes of activation. Most recently, the team helped locate a missing aircraft on sea ice in Alaska and provided support in locating a downed aircraft in California. Recent heavy rains and snowfall put homes, businesses, and infrastructure at risk throughout rural Appalachia. Flooding and, later, erosion and mudslides hit eastern Kentucky and rural areas of southwestern Virginia and southern West Virginia. Civil Air Patrol provided aerial imagery to state emergency management agencies as well as geospatial assessments for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Read more https://bit.ly/3QN12z6.

Congratulations to Civil Air Patrol Cadet 2nd Lt. Nathan Lowe of our Texas Wing’s Fort Worth Phoenix Composite Squadron, who has been accepted into the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Flight Training Program. The program is renowned for producing some of the military’s most skilled helicopter pilots, with acceptance reserved for the most qualified candidates. Congratulations to the two Civil Air Patrol cadet teams reaching this year’s CyberPatriot 17 finals, administered by the Air & Space Forces Association. The New Jersey Wing’s Raritan Valley Composite Squadron has made the finals three straight years, and the Virginia Wing’s Burke Composite Squadron is also returning from last year for another try at capturing the All Service Division overall crown. Finals are set for March 14-18 in Bethesda, MD. CyberPatriot is the nation's largest cyber defense competition.
