This is a statement I made in another group but it applies to everyone.
I have been rehabbing fawns ( permitted since 2009 ) and in the last few years some person with little to zero experience posted a meme about curled ears . Curled ears have nothing to do with dehydration or the health of the fawn. It's simply a matter of genetics. As long as the fawn is sternal, not crying , covered in flies or fly strike looks like miniature grains of rice, chances are It's fine. Fawns do not have any scent so in order to not attract predators the mom only feeds them a couple times a day. As soon as they get old enough to motor around mom will take them with her. If you see a fawn standing next to a dead mother by all means please call or if something changes let me . A couple more mentions while I'm on my soap box.
If you handle birds , rabbits , fawns , etc with your bare hands it won't keep the mother from wanting her baby back. So please return them to her.
Raccoons that are out in day time are not rabid
They are usually trying to scrounge up a meal for themselves while the babies are sleeping or not really mobile. Later on as the babies get their sea legs momma will start taking them with them. So you may see mom being followed by her tribe.
The majority of snakes you see in a lifetime are non- venomous so let them get on with their business. If you're afraid of snakes ( like myself ) join a snake group it really helps. Sometimes you can even find people who will move a venomous snake for free. So reach out before grabbing the shovel.
I will now climb off my soap box
