I want to give you some history, I have been traveling to Honduras since 2008, In 2008 the United Church of Chist of Maine Conference was sending a team that they put out to anyone interested and I joined. I fell in Love with this village LaVueltoza/ El Playon, it is in the rain forest, I fell in LOVE, with the beauty of Honduras, and the love of the people, I now call my family. I have continued
to lead trips to Honduras every year since. Including two trips this year in 2015. My mission is to take all people who have an open mind and an open heart. This year in May, I took a team of 16 people, people from UCC churches, people from Chatholic Churches, people who don't go to church at all. I took people who wanted to share the gifts we had with people they don't know. The Maine Honduras Partnership has built 11 homes in this village for people who had lived in mud huts. The trip is June 24--July3rd, We will fly out of Boston, on June 24th and arrive in San Pedro around 2pm (noon Honduras time). Once we arrive in San Pedro Sula We then take a pickup truck full of our luggage and a 15 person van up the mountain for about 4 hours before we reach the village. There we will stay in a cement home, that has a shower( cold water) and a flush toilet. We will be working with the Hondurans on this project, we will mix cement, carry blocks, lay blocks and move blocks again. I like to be up front with people, there are many things to do in the village besides move blocks, and I encourage people to do what they are called to do. I personally run a childcare center, and I love children, and I love to spend time playing with them. I have gone with people who wanted to know how to make bread, and the pastors wife was happy to show her one afternoon. I have taken people that just want to work and work hard. I have taken people as young as 13 and as old as in their 70's. My goal is to take people that are looking for an experience, with an open mind and heart. We attend church two to three times a week, and as an FYI--this is no 60 min service....About 2 hours. Full of singing, love and praise. All our meals are prepared by Tula, the pastors wife, they live across the road from where we stay. All meals are prepared with bottled water. You will not go away hungry. Our last day in the village will be on Friday morning after breakfast we will head back to the city to stay in a hotel, ( HOT SHOWERS..YEAAA) that afternoon we will visit the bilingual school that is affiliated with the Honduras church we work worth, visit the tourist market and enjoy dinner with the Honduras Church elders. Saturday morning we will travel to the town Omoa, here we will visit the Fort of San Fernando De Omoa, then we will travel to Paraiso hotel for lunch and an afternoon of fun at the beach. You can look up how beautiful it is here. http://paraisohotelhn.com/
